And hey, I didn't know that either but:
This year in my film class, we watched the movie Dead Poet's Society, starring Robin Williams. The movie came out in 1989, and when we watched the extras, there were some pictures from the filming: One of Robin Williams dabbing. The class freaked out, including me. He's sort of my idol.
And our teacher, who just turned forty, made a joke about how our generation thinks they invented dabbing when it's been around for a long time. Anyways. It's not new and it's not a drug reference. -
