There are four classes at the high school I'm going to next year, one of which is your elective. Your elective will be taken if you have an honors/advanced/AP, whatever you want to call it, class. The Milestones is the test I take at the end of year every year, and you are required to improve from last year's score and pass. There are four levels: Beginning, Developing, Proficient, Distinguished (Proficient meaning you passed and Distinguished meaning advanced) I got straight across Proficient in every subject in 6th grade and three extremely high Proficient scores and one Distinguished in 7th grade. The only way to improve is to get straight across Distinguished this year. If that happens, according to my social studies teachers, I will either be assigned honors classes, or I can skip a grade. Either way sucks because I don't know anyone in 9th grade except for two people. My elective next year is marching band. I really don't want to drop marching band.

Wouldn't you be able to get marching band in 9th?

Sometimes being smart sucks because I can't keep my elective, or I can be in 10th grade and be stuck with people I don't know.

Can't you do an even more advanced thing for band though?

You have band during the day and games throughout the week. I can't learn how to play the music if I'm not there during the day. I can keep it if I skip 9th.

I'd personally skip the grade and graduate sooner, but you do you.

there's more work but the freedom and the choices you get to make is exciting -
I'm in a year three band class right now. I would have to skip year four and go straight to year five if I skip 9th. That's a little hard.

It would look great on a college application if I do skip being a freshman with the grades I have, test scores, and extracurricular activities, but I love band. I would skip no problem if I didn't have band.

We have art classes, but I don't like art that much. 😂 I can't draw. I need you and Drew to teach me because you're both so good at it.

Of course. I plan to attend a university and take part in their marching band. That's my goal.

The Christmas concert is coming up, so we're starting to get music for it. The one we got today is called "Ding Dong Merrily On High", and the first thing I thought of was a stoned Santa.
