Lightning is a girl. Her real name is Claire, I believe, Claire Darrin. But she goes by lightning or light in the game. Only her and her sister Serah know her real name in the game.

Oh sugar! I just realized that Kokia sang some of the music for Final Fantasy, I also just realized Ihave a screen saver of Lightning :|
