Then I saw something only seen in pictures. One kid- he looked Hispanic- was tossing little balls of fire into the air. I had just got back from Hogwarts, so I had no idea who this kid was. I turned to Katie Gardener. "Who's that kid? The one with the fire." Katie looked at me like I was crazy. "You're kid- oh, right, you have school for most of the year. Well, that's Leo Valdez. Came in with two other demigods a few months ago." -

Then, [o]finally,[/i] I noticed someone I approved of. Percy Jackson, a son of Poseidon came into the hall. I smiled. He was the only one who really understood me, liked me for who and what I really was. -

We were lonely, not supposed to be born, and SUPER powerful. I hated it. I liked being around Percy... my heart did a little tap dance when I thought that. oh no you don't! I chided myself.

Scarred For Life NewbieI strolled back to my cabin, glancing at the schedule taped to my wall... archery next. I decided on a better outfit for that. Keeping my jeans, I threw on a Beatles shirt and a brown leather jacket and some matching boots. I picked up my own arrow and quiver- hey, you didn't have to be an Apollo kid to like archery!

I stood up. "Um, Katie, I think I'll go check on my garden. See you in a little bit." Katie "Mmhmm"ed, and I sn-----d, following her gaze to Travis Stoll. "Or maybe not. Bye, Katie." I drank the last of my pumpkin juice (I had grown partial to it during my time at Hogwarts), and ran back to Demeter's cabin, where I changed into a paint-splattered tank top and gray sweats. I tied back my long hair into a pony tail, and grinned in the mirror. I wasn't super conceited, like the Aphrodite kids, but I liked to look nice. It was just another "gift" that Mother had let the gods and goddesses of Olympus bless me with. Along with my youthfulness. When I was younger, I always looked younger than my age. Now that I had entered my teen years, I started looking older. I smudged dirt on my face with my fingers (purposefully, yes), and laughed. I put in my contacts and took off my glasses. I didn't want the lenses dropping out on me...again.

Walking down the hill towards the targets, I noticed Percy heading down to the lake and giggled. Typical. He must have heard me, because he called over. "Hey Sapphire!" He said while swimming. I raised a hand in his direction, smiling. -
I went outside, and smiled, breathing in the deep, clean air. Another thing about Camp Half-Blood: no air pollution. I walked around to the back of the cabin, where my special spot of gardening was. I smiled down at the spear- and peppermint, roses, and an assortment of veggies. Even some watermelon that everyone at Camp would eat at the end of summer. "Hey, Nature Girl," I jumped and turned around, holing out my dagger in front of me. I let out an embarrassing "Eep!" and sheathed it. "Oh, hi." I mumbled. Leo grinned. "Hi. I'm Leo." I smiled. "Elizabeth. Liz," i said.

Scarred For Life NewbieFwoom They arrow flew gracefully through the air, as my two fingers parted on the back of it. I watched it soar, thudding and bouncing once it pierced the center of the target. I smiled.
(I have a real bow and arrow. I was Katniss on Halloween, and now I use my arrow for fun. I love archery :D) -
Leo grinned. "Hey Liz." He looked around, and raised his eyebrows, as if to say, impressive. I grinned. "My own little spot of garden." I said. "I grew everything from seeds. Some these plants are generations old." I said proudly. "I've never had to buy new seeds or change the soil. It's part of my extra abilities, you see. I'm the most powerful child of Demeter for over a century. Most of my siblings can just make the plants grow faster or bigger. Me? I can control everything about nature. Plus a little more." I admitted. I stood up, and held out my hand. "I haven't seen you around," Leo said. I blushed. "I'm a summer kid. I go to this boarding school that runs from August to mid-June. We get out for Christmas and Easter breaks."

Scarred For Life NewbieI shot a few more targets, then headed back up to Cabin 1. On my way, I noticed Liz and Leo talking. I smiled and winked at Liz, who I knew from Hogwarts. (What's your house? Mine's Gryffindor.)

I saw Sapphire wink at me, and I grinned. "So, Leo, what brings you back here?" Leo blushed a little, which made me smile. "Umm...nothing?" I laughed and playfully punched Leo's arm. "Okay, then. So, what's your first class?" Leo pulled out a crumpled piece of paper. I pulled out my own. "Arts and crafts," He mumbled. "You?" I glanced down, and my heart sank. Stop it; you barely know the guy! I scolded myself. "Swordfighting." I said. "But after that I have Lava rock climbing." Leo grinned. "Me too!" i grinned. "So I'll see you there?" "It's a date," Leo winked. I blushed, and smiled as I watched his retreating figure. "Bye," I whispered. -
Scarred For Life NewbieI glanced at my schedule once again, it was a new one, Chiron changed them up. Hmm... a free period! I hoped I'd see Percy. And sure enough, as I strolled down to the lake where I spent my free periods, I did.
