A nice woman who looked to be in her late 50s came up and took the fruit from me. She gave me an empty basket and I went back to where Izelenda was. -
Figs were plentiful this week. I gathered many of them and placed them into the basket. Then I went over to a pomogranate tree. I saw Ese coming back with an empty basket.

"So, is there anything else I should know? Anything to look out for?" I asked upon returning.

"Not really, but don't go over there." I pointed to the left side of me. "Many spiders and predators live in that-" I didnt have a chance to finish, a panther suddenly leaped out from a bush. It looked very hungry and stared at Ese with big, hungry eyes.

I stared back at the large jungle cat. I was rather frightened, but also relieved Thomas stayed back at camp with father. "W-what is that?" I asked, with a voice so shaky I didn't know if Izelenda could understand me.

"I'll explain later, right now, stand still and don't move until I say 'run'" I started moving slowly to the side, trying to stand in front of Ese. Then I made my step too fast. The panther leaped towards Ese. "RUN!" I yelled, and jumped at the panther.

I wish I could say I stayed, and helped Izelenda. Show how brave I was. But, I ran. I ran as fast as I could, not looking to where I was going. In a matter of minutes, I was lost.

The panthers claws were released in the air and its mouth was wide open, ready to devour. His sharp teeth pressed into my arm and claws dug into my back. But right now pain was the last thing I thought about. The panther leaped again, and this time I took a rock and, in mid air, hit the panthers stomach with it. He was now out of breath and in pain because the rock was sharp and cut his stomach. He scurried away like a mouse.

I looked around in wonder. The trees were covered with every colored fruit and flower I knew. And possibly more! There were birds, frogs, monkeys, and many other animals I had to name for. It was so beautiful.

I could feel very sharp pain in my back and arm. But I had to find Ese. I slowly walked right, which I think was the direction she went in. Then I saw a spalsh of blue coulour, I knew it was Ese's skirt. I walked there and when I reached her, I was in so much pain that I fell down right there in the rain forest floor.

I saw Izelenda collapse and ran over to her. I looked around and thought I saw someone in the undergrowth. "Hello? Is anyone there?" I called, hoping that if there was, they would be able to help.
