bunnirox1686 Newbienatuhleegayle-Um, I dunno, what graphic novel? Dork Diaries is at Barnes and Noble here in New Jersey... It's by Rachel Renee Russel, funny name, I know. Or, you could try the Percy Jackson series, or Hoot by Carl Hiaasen, or Flush, also by Carl Hiaasen.

miumiutheemu NoviceRight, no vampires means that I can instantly forget about the numerous volumes of vampire-romance books my friend has made me read. I honestly can't tell you how pleased I am. Hrmmm...Let's see. How about:
-the Gone series by Michael Grant- basically Lord of the Flies with a bit of X-men mixed into it.
-Any books by John Green, so Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, The fault in our stars, An Abundance of Katherines... They also provide very interesting facts along the way, but that's mostly in an Abundance of Katherines. No, those books didn't make me sound so intelligent. You can blame that on all of my factoid books and my medical encyclopaedia.
-Lord of the Rings. They take time, but it's worth it and your teachers will probably think that you're some kind of genius. I'm not saying that you're not, any insult was unintended.
-Any book by Terry Pratchett. You're spoiled for choice, as he's written 70-something books. I recommend the Discworld series.
-Runemarks by Joanne Harris. As well as it's sequel, Runelight. They're based on norse mythology, and the creepy thing is that you find yourself falling in love with Loki (the one who kills Bragi, god of song, "spawns" several monster kiddies and leads the monsters against the gods at ragnarok).
Just a note on Norse mythology, Thor is fine, if you don't mind him ALREADY BEING MARRIED. And being kinda slow. And Loki is also fine, aside from the fact that (you guessed it) he's ALREADY MARRIED! I think that he is forced into marriage by the other gods. I'm not sure, I need to look it up. (Yay! Another reason for me to go on about norse mythology! And mythology in general! Win!)
That's all I can come up with, but I'll raid my extensive bookcase just to give you something more to read. -
