Chapter Six
Grandma's funeral was terrible.
Everyone cried their eyes out, the die was dark and cloudy, and later on it even rained.
Everyone felt their sadest and didn't have the energy for anything, Xavier tried to cheer up Xoco and Xylia sobbed in her pillow all day, Helen was crying over her soup and Dako became even more quieter and anti social.
The only one who went about his normal business was Tad.
Though Xylia was upset about her grandma's death, that didn't stop her wondering after Tad, trying to see what he did at night.
While she had gotten up to grab another tissue, she saw a figure head out in to the dead of the night, it was raining but only lightly.
She immediatly wiped away some more tears and stared clearly.
Yes, he was there, she could see him, going in to the dark woods.
She grabbed her coat and boots, and ran out, but careful not to make a single sound.
She was starting to feel a little bit scared, could Tad be doing something evil? Did he know she was following him and he was leading her in to a trap? She was most afraid of being caught, or getting lost and not finding her way back, but she was just so curious as to what he did.
He went down the dark, damp road, a lone soul on the road of depression, except there was someone with him, he just didn't know it yet.
He reached a hill and went up, he was much slower because the grass was slippery and Xylia could see through the darkness and the rain drops that he was shivering. What sent him out here? Why wasn't he at home with the others?
She found herself being lead to a cemetry, full of gravestones and graves, damp soil and black trees.
Xylia then realized it was the cemetery where her grandma was buried, it was too dark to be sure, but she felt that it was.
Then, Tad walked down to a grave far to the right, bent down, and put something on it, Xylia was shocked by this? What was he doing?
After Tad had left, or at least, was out of earshot, she dashed towards it to see what Tad had put on her grandma's grave, when she reached it (but she had slowed her pace as not to slip and not be heard by Tad if he still lingered)
She found a rose on the grave.
A withered, small rose, to show Tad's deepest sympathy to her grandma.
"What are you doing here?" a voice asked sharply behind her, she turned to see him standing there, she had no choice to tell him why she was here, she said that she was curious as to what he did.
"Oh?" he enquired, "You shouldn't get in to other people's business,"
The rain was falling a bit harder, and Xylia pulled her coat overherself to stop shivering from the cold.
He sighed and looked at her for an answer.
"I'm sorry," she said quietly, she was really embarassed now.
"It's alright, as long as you won't do it again, now let's go home,"
And that was the first time he smiled at her, or even, smiled at anyone before.
They walked down the road back home, Xylia asked Tad what he did and why he went out in the night, but he replied, "Eh, I like to go out and take a walk, refresh my nerves and take time to think about things, I'm wierd that way,"
Xylia looked at him wonderously, she longed so much to know about this boy and what he did, she wanted to get under his skin and know his secrets, she wanted the key to his heart.
He caught her eye and looked up from the ground, he kept staring and couldn't tear away, it was like both their eyes were on pause... ever so perfectly.
Then, with a crazy thought in both minds, and racing hearts, shivering bones and trembling lips, they kissed in the rain, in the cold and the darkness of the night and cloudy sky hiding the moon as if even it couldn't see what the two had just done. -
Awwwwww.
