The room was completely dark, but Cleopatra could see everything in it. She could feel the electrical waves coming off of the five Egyptian soldiers between her and the door, she could feel them crashing into the walls painting a detailed picture of the room for her. Her fingers brushed the source of her magnificent sense. The sacred scarab beetle was cradled in her palm lending her the use of its insect sensory network. Suddenly she felt an opposing electric wave hit the door. It had hit it from the other side. So they were here. Cleopatra crouched and placed a stone carved glyph on the ground then backed away. The door shuttered, but not from pulses of electricity. This time they had hit the door with something hard. The soldiers tensed, and readied themselves. The door rattled in its hinges, as it was struck again and again. Finally it shattered. Sending shards of wood and bronze in all directions. Roman soldiers, and torch light poured in. Cleopatra’s soldiers were killed almost immediately. It was no surprise. She had not expected them to survive this, and neither had they. She backed further away from the stone glyph she had placed on the floor as the Romans advanced. “Ard Ba!†She called. They were suddenly stopped were they stood. The stone Glyph that they had not noticed now glowed green, advertizing it’s presence thoroughly. While the Roman soldiers were trapped she called “Ka!â€. A distortion blasted from her, slamming into the wall, and knocking out a space for her to climb through. Out in the night her senses almost overwhelmed her. She could feel the electric pulse of every small bug around her, she could feel the electric pulse that the blowing wind created, but she still felt the eleven pulses that belonged to the Roman soldiers. That pushed her to keep running. After just a few moments she felt the Romans shatter the stone glyph, thus releasing there themselves. she felt them charge after her. After a few moments she stopped and hurriedly laid a trap. She drew a glyph in the sand and pulled one that matched it from her pouch. When the Roman soldiers caught up to her they were wary. They slowly formed a circle around her, and then attacked together. Cleopatra’s voice was clear and loud, “Ardn Ba!†then she threw the stone glyph high in the air. The soldiers that were standing on the trap glyph she had drawn in the sand jerked upward to the now glowing green glyph. Cleopatra turned on the remaining soldiers and shouted “Ka!†the same distortion as before erupted from her, and slammed into the soldiers, sending them flying through the air. She heard a soft thump, followed by, a less soft Crunching sound. She didn’t have to look to know that the glyph she threw had landed, along with the Roman soldiers. She began running in the direction of the temple. Now that there was no danger in the immediate one quarter of a mile radius, she found it hard to concentrate. If she had not spent years with this odd ability she wouldn’t have been able to. Her senses were so intense. Finally she made it to the cliff on which the temple was built. Waiting for her on the steps were five priest each with a different animal by them, a snake, jackal, falcon, cat, and baboon. They all bowed slightly, and she bowed in return, then in perfect synchronization they quickly formed a circle. The cat priest spoke first, there was nothing but absolute serenity in his voice. “the first, second, and third, legions have been defeated, but it appears that the fourth legion will be are downfall. Soon Egypt as we know it, will be no more.†Then baboon priest spoke. “we must preserve at least a small portion of ourselves if we are to return someday.†There was an unmistakable feeling of agreement, but no one spoke. Suddenly the jackal priest said “there coming.†Those were the last two words that left her mouth. The next instant there were five arrows in her, and two in the jackal by her side. Some arrows found the other priests, but none of them hit both them and the animal, so they were unhindered, much less harmed. The soldiers charged forward to attack with swords, and pikes. Again in perfect synchronization, the circle broke up and said evenly, and as one “Ha binn.†There was a moment pain as the world around the priest shifted itself into something different. The priest had merged with there familiar. Standing there were not five humans, and five animals but five creatures, with the body of human, but the head, and skin of an animal. The Romans backed up, suddenly fearful of the Egyptian priests. The baboon priest darted forward and seized two soldiers and launched them into the air, and kicked another with deadly strength. The roman soldiers regrouped and raised there pikes for a charge. The cat priest leaped to his comrades side, and cried “Ard Ib!†the cat priest’s words were heavy. Like they were more than just words. They sunk deep into the soldiers hearts and confused there emotions, and clouded there judgment. They broke up again, bewildered, but only for a moment. One of the soldiers recovered faster than the others and pulled a dagger from his boot and threw it. “Ka!†the word was not a word but a bellow of rage. As the falcon priest strode forward angrily, a distortion ripped through the air, and knocked the dagger to the ground. By now the whole group of roman soldiers had come out of there daze and were once again charging at the three priest. There was nothing to be done this time. The line of soldiers, and pikes collided with bodies. The weapons stabbed into there targets’ and came out the other side dripping blood. The soldiers retracted the pikes, and formed a wedge formation heading toward the remaining priest. Cleopatra yelled for the snake priest to run but he didn’t listen. he glared at the oncoming soldiers and hissed in a quite, deadly tone, “Ka.†A distortion slammed into the ground in front of him, with a sharp crack, and there was a ten foot around, glyph engraved on the ground. He took five paces back, and drew two stone carved glyphs from within the folds of his white robe. As the soldiers advanced he held his ground, as soon as the were on his big glyph he called. “Ardn Ba!â€, then he threw the two stone glyphs in his hands in opposite directions. The sound of, screams, ripping flesh, and breaking bone, were woven into one horrendous sound, as the soldiers Ba’s tried to follow both glyphs. The snake priest and Cleopatra stood side by side, both drenched in blood and unmoving. It was the battle cries that brought them to the present. Cleopatra turned and walked to the edge of the cliff that overlooked the city. As she gazed at the once great, and prosperous area of Egypt, she felt despair engulf her, she felt defeat in every bone, every muscle. “tontunkahan.†The snake priest walked up to Cleopatra, and said “yes my lady priest of the sacred scarab?†“Run. Return one day and make this place great if you will, but run now and spare me the death of one more loved one. That is all I ask.†The snake priest nodded. And said “Ha Binn†Instead of a jarring shift this time the world sighed back into place and he returned to being a human and snake. Then he began to run from the temple, and into the dessert. Cleopatra was alone. She looked back to the burning city below and over to her fallen brothers, and sisters. She slowly pronounced the words “Ha Binn.†And again the world slowly eased into place. she looked over all that she had lost one more time and then slowly stood and said “Ka.†A distortion engrave her name in hieroglyphs into the ground. “Ren.†She said in a voice so even, and emotionless it wasn’t even human. Suddenly the name scratched into the ground hissed, and sputtered.

The engraving gouged deep into the earth sending itself one hundred miles down. “Ren ard Ha.†She said, but not with an emotionless tone, but with the tone of someone who was absolutely committed. The next second her body collapsed on the ground as her Ha went down into the deep hole in the earth and sealed itself there. The hole quickly sealed too leaving only her Ren engraved on the surface, and her dead body lying beside it.
