Jayd walked to the door, looking at Chester to see if he was following.

Chester followed, reaching for his hand.

Jayden let him take it, smiling weakly.

Chester kissed his knuckles. ‘Are you mad at me?’

"I'm not mad." Jayden said after a moment, shaking his head.

Chester relaxed slightly. ‘Y-You sure? What’s wrong, then?’

Jayden stared at the ground, not answering.

Chester stopped walking, holding his hand. ‘Love?’
-
Jayden shook his head slightly, not looking up at him.
-
Chester’s face fell. He morphed into a half-bird, with black and white wings, smaller than his phoenix wings, and black hair with white streaks. ‘Please look at me.’

Jayd didn't look up. He didn't want to see the look on Chester's face. Or else what? Will you try and make me?

Chester looked down. He let go of his hand and hugged himself.

Jayden leaned against the wall, burying his face in his hands. "I'm so sorry."

Chester looked down. ‘It’s fine,’ he mumbled.

"No it isn't. Don't lie to me."
