Chapter 5: Sawyer's POV
He stared....he couldn't comprehend the rush of emotions that violated him...the ones he hid....bottled up and locked in a safe....came up all at once...
Her eyes? The brightness is gone....no more bright eyes.....she has such tragic eyes....beautiful shaped...but tragic. As if the life as disappeared, not a trace left. There's no light...it wasn't right. She needed to be happy. To have the life back in her. What caused her to have these eyes? What was so gruesome and so evil that took the light that was so strong, away from her. The girl he loves....in this way? He wanted to cry. To sob into her arms, to never let go, to scream her name. To be angry at her for causing this...this pain.....She's not....dead? Sawyer continued to ask himself. But he was in denial I see the fire! She's dead... But he couldn't believe it.
The girl he loved....the girl he loves....Gone. -
Chapter 6: Vanessa's POV
Vanessa pushed Sawyer out of the way, officially putting away and locking all of her cares, and dropping it into the River of Stix. Her heart raced and raced, as if she was in a marathon. Continuing to sprint beyond her limit....sweat beaded down Vanessa's forehead....and the chase hasn't even begun yet. -
As the one minute music played, Vanessa reached Door 12. All she needed to do was slip out, and she didn't have to ever see him. But she couldn't decide. Now's not the time to be indecisive. Go. She heard the voice. She was positive she actually heard it. Not just imagining it. Vanessa shifted her eyes to the window, were the same exact boy she seen in the upstair D hallway, standing before her making absurd hand gestures.
I know you see be Vanessa. I'm telling you to go! We don't have much time. People will be here in a moment's notice. Go out Door 12 and meet me on Hoefgen St. The corner. But now's not the time, no more stalling. Go! Vanessa felt the command, run through her. The last word echoing in her mind like it's hallow. She turned around, to see if anyone was watching her. But no one was. The bell rang. the teachers and students cleared the hallway.
Vanessa pushed the door and ran. Her stride getting longer and longer by the seconds. The alarm will announce that someone has pushed the door or opened it. Vanessa really didn't want to be there when it sounds.
As Vanessa finally landed on Troy Avenue, she heard the blood curdling scream of the alarm. The noise frightened Vanessa as she seen the sign for Carson Street. As she ran, she headed straight for Shelby Street. The cold burning Vanessa's lungs, her side aching, it felt someone threw a spoon into fire and lay it upon her stomach. She turned right making her way down Shelby, attempting to avoid all of the obnoxious people honking their horns at the people walking past. She ran straight, the Hoefgen lamppost just twenty feet away from her. She continued, she felt her legs push every ounce of energy left into making the five feet, four, three, two, one.
Vanessa grabbed the lamppost, if she hadn't she would've fallen. After minutes of inhaling and exhaling, Vanessa finally realized a black van across the street. -
She rubbed her eyes, to discard the blurriness in them, and pretended she didn't see the parked van twenty feet away from her.
The pain in her side finally diminished, leaving only a small throb every once in a while. Vanessa dragged her eyes, looking for something to wonder about.
Where's the strange boy at? What happened to him? How did he get out of Military School?
As Vanessa racked her brain, looking for some reasoning to this madness, she didn't realize the black van's doors moving to the side, and men stepping out of them.
Seconds later a cloth flew around her eyes, and her wrists being secured at the back of her head. Her immediate reaction was to yell, but she didn't. They didn't try to tape her mouth, so she wouldn't make any noise. The feeling gave a weird feeling in her stomach that if they did not bother with making sure she didn't make noise, that they possible trusted her? Or just didn't seem the need to that they were going to kill her anyway?
Both of the possibilities seem a tad eccentric and bizarre, since she didn't have a clue who these people were. And why would they have a reason to end her life? Besides, if they trusted her, wouldn't they not bother with the restraints around her eyes and wrists?
All of it seems quite questionable to Vanessa. -
Her mind went onto another thought.....him. Why did I leave? Do I still love him? Do I still care what happens to him? No....maybe....I don't know..... Vanessa asked herself throughout the ride.
The guilt piling on her minute by minute. Everything she locked down in the compartment is overflowing now. Crashing upon her. Causing her to cry out.
Immediately she stifled the cry. Shoving it into the box she has designated to this very subject.
Vanessa felt the van stop abruptly causing Vanessa's face to slam against the seat in front of her. She felt all the blood rushing to her face.
"Are you alright? I didn't mean to cause that to happen?" asked a voice, definitely male, in the driver's seat in front of her. She felt the van shift side to side as if people are getting out.
Vanessa nodded, but soon realized he possibly couldn't see her---and she couldn't see him--- so she answered: "Uh, yeah. I just hit my head on the seat, I'll be fine."
"Thank god. No one is dead." he replied, Vanessa could basically feel the smile growing on his face. He seemed naive. Young. It stomped Vanessa. Why would someone send a person so young to kip nap her? After minutes of debating, she decided to take advantage of this person.
"Why am I here anyway?" Vanessa asked, not in a accusing tone, just a very innocent way, possibly to throw the male off guard, wondering why six men need to capture a harmless sixteen-year old.
He didn't answer right away, but started fumbling over his words in a cute little way. "Uh.....I'm n-n-not permitted t-t-to say." -
"Why do I have this cloth tied around my eyes? Are you worried I might see where we are going? Why not tape my mouth shut along with it?" Vanessa asked, still using the sweet little girl's voice she used to use.
"Uh....umm....I...can't say. They wouldn't tell me." his voice started to shake. But They. Who is this They?
"They? Why can't you tell me? Clearly going through all this trouble for one silly girl is completely ridiculous." Vanessa snapped, dropping the innocent tone in her voice completely.
Vanessa felt his smile disappear, "I'm sorry. I can't say." -
"Please." Vanessa begged. She felt her eyes start to burn, suddenly grateful for the cloth around her eyes.
"They, his name is Alexx." the boy's voice came out in a whisper. But Vanessa caught the name. Alexx? Could it truly be him? -

Chapter 7: Alexx
Alexx had to warn her. Malachi isn't the most forgiving person. She isn't aware of what she is and what she is capable of. Alexx attempted many times to lure her in; he tried with Sawyer. Using his shape shifting ability Sawyer could transform into anything human, animal, or any household object. -
But Vanessa was cautious the first time, and didn't go to the boy (Sawyer). Then again, he attempted, and Sawyer finally done his job. There were risks needing to be taken. Lying to Sawyer, causing Vanessa to see Sawyer. It was a plan, that seemed a tad insane. But lately, his beyond stupid plans-that-just-might-work, tend to work, or fall into place on its own.
