. . . Hey, Jack! Eva shouted over in my direction. I was trying to focus on the three-dimensional story of my own book, trying to ignore the out-side ailments and obscurities. But If I never wanted to be around an out-side obscurity, why were I friends with Eva and Alyssa any-ways? Maybe I had a foolish crush. Maybe because I felt I was important around them. Dont know. Either way, they were incredibly obnoxious, specifically Eva. Alyssa was more Weird. If that childish plague 'Cooties' really existed, Alyssa would be Patient Zero. Always shy around others, and surprisingly calm. But when she --
. . . JACK! Eva yelled literally right in my ear. "WHHAAAAAAT?!?!" I shouted back. How DARE that child yap in my ear, nearly bursting my ear-drum?! The crunch of the loose asphalt was enough of a distraction as several other children bounced and shouted around. Eva looked at me with a confused look.
"What? I just wanted to tell you the bus is here."
"Oh. Uhh Right." I replied, obviously embarrassed as my blushing cheeks likely told.
"What are you? Think the bus is going to eat you?"
She teased, slightly cocking her head.
"No. I just I hate life."
"Where have I heard that before... ?" (Reference?)
. . . Quickly, I rapped my sneakers across the rubber steps leading to the hall of the bus. Still immersed into my own book, I quickly sat in one of the middle seats, trying to subdue my-self into the mystical world of thought, and focus And books. How I love books. But of course, Eva couldn't resist sitting by me. Maybe Maybe she thought I was handsome is why she never left my side for one MINUTE?! I guess. Better than believing she was as strange as her sister.
"Whatcha reading?" She asked with what seemed to be anxiety, but She was always like that
"None ya business."
"Cmon! Tell me!" She asked mischeviously, which I found out why when she snatched the entire book away from my clasped hands. Immediately the air around me felt cool, nearly chilling.
"Woah." I said as the air suddenly changed. Mustve been my own imagination
"Keys to The Kingdom? Mister Monday?" She said it like she was hunting for a treasure chest. "I havent heard of this one." For once, she actually seemed interested in literature. For once, I actually felt friends with her. But now I wonder how she got into the prestigious private school I go to.
"Yes. Now give me the damn thing." I said, hushed. Saying Damn wasnt bad for us, we were 13 and we hardly said it. Then I turned my attention to the seats. The blue leather seemed awfully comfortable, far more-so than usual. My reaction time was splintered as Eva quickly swiped the book out of my grasp, and I didn't want to crawl all over her to try and retrieve, so I let her sift through the pages.
"Cool. This Arthur guy almost sounds like you. Cool."
"Really? I don't have asthma. Or a key to another Universe, or a guy who wants to kill me. Or another multi --"
"Woah, I know. I know. Hes not like you, I got it. But you have the same hair. And eyes. And facial structure."
I replied "Right." with the pepper of sarcasm.
