Thread Topic: 1st person or 3rd person?
-
I like both actually, when I was younger I wrote more in first person but now I mainly write in 3rd person. I'm writing a new story and I'm wondering how I should write it. What do you guys think?
-
I have a strong preference for 3rd person. For the most part I don't like writing from a character's voice.
And I say you should write it in whatever point of view you personally prefer and suits the story more. -
I prefer to write from the characters point of veiw. Doing so allows for more creativity and can lead to plot twists and variety. Each character has their own point of veiw. No two are the same.

3rd is easier, Imao.

I usually do write in 3rd person, but I really have nothing against 1st person. In fact, reading things from the character's point of view can be quite interesting. So, in my opinion, for writing= 3rd > 1st, for reading= 3rd < 1st

I like both but I usually do first person.

What is 1st person or 3rd person? I've never heard of it.

me either

Thanks for the input guys! I appreciate it. I think I'll go with 3rd person with this story.
lol I'm talking about what point of view the story is being written as. When I say first person I mean that the story is told (or narrated) through a character's point of view.
Example: "I walked to the gas station in the pouring rain today."
Now when I say third person I mean the story has a narrator that is not necessarily apart of the story. Like a bystander explaining what's happening.
Example: Mary walked to the gas station in the pouring rain.
Hope that helped! -
Thanks, Ana!
I'm mostly 1st person, I find it MUCH easier. -
Both really lol
-
If you notice my short stories that I have, they're practically all in 1st person, except for maybe 1 or 2 that are 3rd person.
-
xNikkix Newbiei usually write in third person but i hardly ever write stories, i just write poems the most, ive only written like 5 stories and they're simple really.. but they're all in 3rd person style so yah......
-
I like 1st person cuz its like their feelings and stuff idk i have hard time discribing thigs
-
Exactly, with 1st person, it makes you feel like, what would you do if you were them, what were they thinking or feeling when they were doing this and that, to me, it gives more feeling to the book.
It also tells you the opinions of the charecter about these things, and it can describe to you more how they felt inside about somethings.
