I have a plot set out and everything, my only problem was actually getting down to write it. But since I have cleared up some things, I figured that I should get down to write it. So:
PWAG- Papa With a Gun
Obviously, from the title, you can tell that it'll be a bit violent at points. Also 'Papa' isn't very relevant to how the thing will eventually turn out to be, but it'll have a slight connection to the ending. You know, if that isn't confusing enough.
Just a few warnings. The violence is one. Flashbacks, future events, problems with the characters, etc. Another is mentions of sex. It'll only be a couple of times, and of course I won't go into super details into it. Hell, I won't really going into details. Lastly is that of course, it'll center around a homosexual relationship. Two other main characters will have a heterosexual relationship, and you'll be seeing quite a bit of them too. Trust me.
Ooh, and last warning. Don't be too sure about a happy ending. It's still unclear to me whether or not it'll be happy or not.
And finally, I'll have character designs up by the weekend or so. Just wait patiently for me to get them down.
Anyways, now that we're done with that.. Wowsies, hope you enjoy the story once I get to posting it a bit later~ x3 -
Chapter 1
It was a beautiful summer afternoon. It was coming close to dusk, and as the time passed the shades of orange in the sky became dark, and soon they would turn nearly black. The birds scolded each other to warn each other about the upcoming darkness. Whoever was outside at that time of day was soon to go back in. The night in this neighborhood wasn't as beautiful as the day. Secrets arose in the night, and it was best for a normal people to stay out of it.
He played by one of the neighborhood's ponds, which were usually full of children right after they were dismissed from their classrooms. Since it was later afternoon, though, they were all indoors doing their homework and getting ready for bed. He was at the lake despite that. He just didn't feel like doing his work that day. In fact, he hardly did his work anymore. He was so caught up in everything going on in his life that homework seemed really unnecessary.
His head suddenly began to ache greatly as the dark of the sky and his surroundings increased, and he felt that it was hard to breathe. The near pounding in his head became almost unbearable to stand. 'Why is wrong with me?' he asked himself, feeling his knees start to wobble and his entire body become weak with pain and weariness.
The water in the pond was now a bright red. It reeked of the smell of copper, and not only was the smell irritating but the plain sight of it was horrifying. The pond began to overflow, and soon the red liquid began to flood the entire place. It was at his knees when he began to feel how he could not breath. He was choking to death, slowly..
Dodo's eyes quickly opened. His forehead was hot and he felt very uncomfortable. A nightmare..
He stayed in bed for a while, trying to figure out if this was yet another dream or reality. "I'm Dodo Sato. Dodo Sato. Dodo Sato.." he repeated, over and over. It was one of the ways he could tell if it was a dream or not. For some reason he could never remember his name in his dreams.
And so the day began.
As like every morning, his mind was riddled with confusion. Half of his own being had given up on sense and reason, and gave in to confusion and the blur of the crowd. He always felt dizzy, and it was the cost to not being aware anymore.
Dodo hardly noticed as he changed into his regular school clothing. It was something he did almost everyday, so it was nearly second nature. The young man felt dizzy as he grabbed his things and went down the stairs, and hardly thought about what he would do for school that day. It wasn't like he needed to think, anyway. It was all the same.
Downstairs, he met up with the man he had seen every day since he was twelve. He was a man Dodo both feared and trusted. He was frightening, yet very gentle. He was hideous, yet beautiful in ways. He was a person who could contradict his 'regular' personality at any moment. His name was Mittaro Hokkaido, but Dodo would only call him by the name Mitt.
Mittaro was in the small kitchen, making a simple breakfast of eggs. The bulge of his gun was seen from under his shirt. It was more than obvious. It was also the world Dodo lived in. The world of fear, regrets, and horror. The world could be much worse, but it was something Dodo did not want to think about. If he thought about it, his great luck would bring it to become true.
When the eggs were ready, Dodo sat down at the table with Mittaro and they both ate their breakfast. It was in silence, like any other day. They wouldn't speak to each other much because of some sensitive topics they tended to bring up here and there. They came to decide that perhaps it was best to just remain silent, and not start anything. It would turn out well in the end, even if it mean that they would have to be silent and refrain from any sort of communication at the table.
The two finished eating, and Mittaro gathered the plates to go ahead and wash them. Meanwhile, Dodo went ahead to fix himself to get ready to go to school. Afterwards, with a quick kiss on the forehead and a 'have a good day, Dodo', he left to school. The walk wasn't very long, but it was lonesome. It was a good time to begin thinking and reflecting on things. Especially now, since he was only a few months away from graduating from high school. Dodo had all his high school credits. He was a good student. It was just his loathe towards having to go to school and get into the large, confusing crowd. Not just that, either. School wasn't really full of nice people.
At school, Dodo worked hard and his efforts were recognized in two completely different ways. One, in the teachers praising him and telling him that he was doing very well. The second with the students going outside to tell him things, like 'faggot', 'little whiny b----', and 'kill yourself, no one likes you'. He faced those comments with a smile, and only nodded towards them. In the inside though, he felt like dying. It was for this reason that he was always trying to avoid school at every chance he got. Sadly, it wasn't enough.
The kids were the reason he went to the counselor. There he had spilled nearly everything about his life, how his parents had died in a car accident and how his sisters had to take care of him. From that point on, the story was clear and then became foggy again. Haru and Aiki Sato were two well known names, and for that reason everyone knew that they were Dodo's late sisters. They were extremely successful businesswomen, and that was the reason they had been targeted that day for a case of murder. That day, a summer day in the later afternoon while near one of the lakes, was when Dodo had gotten news of his sisters' passing. He was twelve.
That was basically the only things people knew about him. They also knew about that man who took care of him nowadays named Mittaro Hokkaido, but not much else on him. Honestly, it was a good thing that they did not know too much about him. He was too much of a complicated person to understand, and he was also not the best person to be living with. If the school knew about him, they would have reported him a long time ago.
After his school day, he headed on home in hopes that he would see Mittaro there. He had a rough day as usual, but today he just wanted to see him at home. With his luck though, he was greeted at the inside of the house with silence. Nobody was there. Mittaro was 'working'.
Dodo could never say exactly what he worked for, or if he even worked. But he knew that whatever Mittaro did during the time that he disappeared, well, it was important business. And when Mittaro was off working, Dodo knew his duties. He went up into the attic, and retrieved the one thing he always wished he would not have to get. A pistol.
It was true, that Mittaro was not at all a good person to be around. He was a former gang member, and former because he ran away. He had done so because he had fallen in love with Aiki, Dodo's sister. When she had died, he promised himself that he would raise and take care of Dodo the way Aiki would have wanted him to be. That didn't mean he would do a good job, though.
So despite him wanting to take on a new life, it was true that he was still being hunted down by many people. The majority of those many people wanted him dead for betraying them.
And that was how Dodo had come in this life, the one where he had to fear for his life everyday. He was only a few months from graduating from school, and once he graduated he would be able to leave the home and move away from Mittaro and the dangers he brought.
Dodo was fully unaware of how his life was to unfold. -
Sound promising so far Hope you keep writing

Chapter 2
It was only a few weeks before their graduation date. Dodo was yearning to leave the house and to go live on his own. He had already applied to many colleges, and most of them had accepted him. Some of them even offered him full scholarships to attend. Once there, he could study law and history like he had always wanted to do. It seemed that after all of this was over, his life would begin to repair itself.
But there would soon be a problem.
One day after school, Dodo had met up with his friend Misaki to walk home together. The two were very close to each other, despite Dodo trying to push him away all the time. It wasn't because he didn't like Misaki. He just knew that if Misaki was friends with Dodo, then Misaki would be dragged into all the bullying. And that he was.
"Gay!" The crowd of other male students laughed at them, pointing and staring hatefully. It took a lot of self control on their part to not go ahead and push one of the two boys down.
"Don't listen to them," Misaki said calmly, holding on to Dodo tightly. "They're only envious that we're closer than they can manage being with each other." Misaki's voice was calming and smooth. It relaxed Dodo, and kept him from screaming at the other boys.
So they walked to their homes together, remaining close as they traveled in the same bitter silence. It was a usual thing for them to be so quiet. Even bubbly Misaki didn't find much of a need to speak in this type of environment. But this time, he wanted to have Dodo speak to him. "Hey bro. How has it been with Mittaro?"
Dodo hesitated to answer. Even though Misaki was the closest person to him after Mittaro, he didn't always like having to share these types of things. But when he saw Misaki's pleading face, he sighed softly. "It's going okay. He's been a bit calmer compared to when this first started out." He smiled. "Thank you for the concern, Misaki."
"Of course," Misaki nodded with a grin. "I worry about you sometimes, Dodo. You seem so disoriented and sad a lot of the time, it just worries me. Why don't you smile too much anymore?"
"I guess I don't find much need to smile anymore. It won't make me feel happy anymore."
The rest of their walk was silent again. Misaki didn't want to bother Dodo, and Dodo didn't want to speak. He wished he could speak the other other male, but he felt that each time he himself would complain, the other was bored. That, and because Dodo didn't want to make himself some sort of burden with all of his problems.
Then Misaki stood still. "What's wrong?" Dod asked him, stopping at once to look over at him. "Is there something that's bothering you, Misaki?"
The other boy only shook his head, smiling softly as he did so. "Nothing is wrong, Dodo. But I have to leave now, I remember I had to stop by the market to buy something for my mother. Can I tell you something?"
Dodo was confused. "Uh, go ahead. Tell me whatever it is that you want to tell me."
Misaki stood silent for a while, but managed to finally speak. "Dodo, you mean a lot to me. We've been friends for a few years but really, they have been the best of my pathetic life.. And.. I would do anything to get you out of the hell hole that you live in." He smiled sadly. The words he wanted to say ached in his throat, but he couldn't say them out of fear.
Dodo smiled softly and understandingly. "Thank you, Misaki. I feel the same for you. What you said really means a lot to me."
Before he could get the chance to finally say the words, Misaki felt uneasy again. He would have to go and investigate the possible cause of his worry, but he had to excuse himself. "Goodbye, Dodo. I will see you soon." With that, he took off into the distance.
Dodo watched him run off, and waved goodbye. Something about his being felt empty.. And so he felt the weight of guilt press on him again as he walked home, wondering if Misaki had really left only to get groceries. It seemed he always had the strangest excuses for leaving, and today wasn't an exception.
Mittaro was home that day. Dodo took full advantage of him and engaged in a talk with him after dinner, about what had happened that day with Misaki. He also took the time to tell Mittaro about those weird feelings he got when he said goodbye after the other boy's speech.
Afterwards, Mittaro had only laughed. "Seems you both have feelings for each other, isn't that so? Talking those kinds of words to each other."
"Shut up, you old pervert...!"
"Old?" Mittaro asked, his voice stiff and very stern. "I'm most certainly not old. You know well that I'm 7 years older than you. If anything, I am just as young both physically and mentally as you, child."
Dodo hated when he would use that voice. It would always seem as though he had done something wrong. "I'm sorry."
Mittaro did not answer. It was obvious that he was angry with Dodo's comment. The younger male sighed heavily, and got up from his chair. He pushed it in and headed upstairs to his room without another word. The cloud of guilt built over him again.
And so after he fixed himself to get ready for bed, he laid down on his bed and tried to go to sleep. But that night it was difficult for him to sleep. He couldn't help but think about what Mittaro said reguaridng their feelings. Dodo couldn't deny it, there was definitely something.. But somehow that felt wrong to him. It was as if Misaki wasn't the one.
More than that, though, he wondered what could have ever happened to Misaki.
~*~
"Tell me where my brother is!"
Misaki bit his lip roughly, preparing for the next blow. He had been right to have had those bad feelings. There had been a gang out there waiting for a glimpse of Dodo. The reason towards that still remained unclear. Dodo was safe now, but it came at a cost. Misaki was tired up to a tree, and was now having to endure blows from many objects such as bats, sticks, and possibly a knfe.
"Dodo doesn't have a brother," Misaki snarled at the man above him. "I'm not telling you where he is."
The bat came down and hit his stomach with an incredible amount of force. He gagged from the pain and could not breath for a while. When he recoperated, he began coughing up countless amounts of blood. "Go ahead.. hit me.. I'm going to keep him safe...!"
A young woman bent down in front of him, a knife clearly in her hand. "Aw, how cute is that? Trying to protect your little lover.." She took the knife and set the blade to Misaki's lips, and pressed it down with force so that it'd rip through the delicate skin and cause bleeding. "Too bad he can't kiss your lips anymore."
Misaki moaned softly with pain, disgust building within him as he felt the blood trail down his chin and onto his clothing. "I will never tell you, no matter how much you'll torture me.."
The woman seemed bored with Misaki. "What should I do with him, Lukka? He won't spill out the truth. He's almost useless."
The man from before frowned lightly. "Don't kill him just yet, Mimi. He's our best tool for finding out where the hell my brother has been hiding out at. And to find that Mittaro guy, too. Leave him here to starve or something. He'll break down and confess eventually."
"They will find out that we have him hostage, my love."
Lukka scoffed. "Who cares. We have experience with this type of stuff. Now, go ahead and let this guy.. rest."
"Yes, Lukka."
Mimi reached into her pocket and pulled out a small rag and bottle. She applied whatever was on the bottle to the rag, and smiled devilishly. "Goodnight," she said, pressing the rag forcefully to Misaki's nose.
Misaki fought back, but it would not help. In a few minutes he was out cold. Darkness surrounded his world. -
:'D

Yay. Can't wait for next chapter. :3

Chapter 3 holy f--- took me a while.
"Misaki Takahashi?"
The class ringed with an eerie silence, one that could not be cured nor answered by anyone. It remained like that for a long while, until finally it was broken. Though that break in silence was not very welcomed and even worse, was not optimistic in its sounding.
"Has anyone seen Misaki..?" the professor asked, seeming genuinely curious. No one answered, but they all looked at Dodo. They knew how close Misaki and Dodo were.
"No.. Honestly. I haven't seen him," Dodo said with a sincere look on his face. And it was true. Ever since Misaki left mysteriously to 'get groceries', no one had seen him. There was no word on his family's condition, either. It had to have been two weeks already. It wasn't long for graduation, and Misaki was not there.
It was truly a mystery. Misaki wasn't the type of person who would disappear without notice. He usually let everyone know where he would be, if he was going to be missing school. This situation just wasn't one that he would be involved in.
Two weeks. Wondering, asking, and hoping that Misaki would be fine. Dodo became angry with his own self, telling himself that it was all his fault and this could have been avoided had he not let his friend run off without someone else. But it had just never occured to him.
Dodo would lose it if he lost his one friend.
Meanwhile, without Dodo's knowing, Mittaro was busily looking into this 'case'. It was truly peculiar, even by his standards. It seemed like it would take a while to actually solve.
This was his job, the one Dodo hardly knew about. He was in charge of keeping track of all gang or group activity in the city, and in the county. He was not a policeman; He was a part of a secret organization that was working against the violence the people suffered from.
Mittaro's past with violence was much darker than most people knew. His father suffered greatly from depression and his mother was a drug abuser, and just an abuser of nearly everything in general. His father looked just about the same as him. Big stature, green eyes, formal attire, and brown hair. His father's hair was usually combed back neatly. Mittaro's was a semi messy and semi neat. Half and half.
His mother didn't have much resemblance to Mittaro, except for the fact that she had a short temper like him. She was a small person and seemed very loving and caring, but she was one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" situations.
His father, despite being as big as he was, didn't match up to her anger. He was usually stuck in tough situations with her and usually found himself beaten up afterwards.
"Don't get inbetween me and your mother," he had always said. "It'll be okay. Look.. One day we can just move away, me and you. How does that sound?"
Mittaro always had the false hope that his father was going to take them both away, and that his own silent misery would end. Every time he saw his father, he'd think he was like a super hero. So big, strong with his words, and very wise and loving. He was young and unaware of his father's depression.
The day of his suicide was nothing more than a blurry memory for Mittaro. But perhaps it was the reason of his fear of knives. He always backed off from them at his work, and would use a gun instead of anything similar to a knife.
After his father's death, Mittaro was left alone with his mother for quite a long time. He ended up being the troubled kid at school, the one who was missing his teeth much sooner than the rest of the kids. He stole food sometimes at his school, which got him into even more trouble. Though he was despised and usually monitored, he remained a good student.
Yet despite his growing intelligence, he was never able to escape his mother's beatings at home. Sometimes he came home with the hope that if he presented her the news of his academic success at school, she would throw away her horrible acts and love him. But it never did happen. She was too caught up in her sick desires to hurt, and in her drug use. Those two were usually the major factors that fueled her anger.
Mittaro was never sure of how long he had stayed with her, but he remembered being a young teen once he was orphaned. Her cause of death was unforgettable; a heart attack.
He dropped out of high school because he had no one to take care of him at home and the stress pressing on him was overwhelming. For almost a year, he lived on the streets. He gained little sympathy from those who saw him. When he begged for money on the streets, he hardly had enough for something simple to eat at the end of the day.
One day.. Well, one day he was greeted by a group of very snarky looking teens, and the tallest of them told him that he was very large in stature and would work well in "the group". They promised that they would keep him away from the streets and provide him with a home..
As long as he could do a little something for them in return.
Before he even knew it, Mittaro had viciously murdered someone. He did not do it for the bloodthirst nor for the thrill; but he did it for the possible love. He wanted people to care about his being, and perhaps this gang was the right place to go.
From that point on, Mittaro was a part of a gang. At first he seemed like the weakest link, but he managed to prove otherwise.
He remained there for only a year, but his young mind made him believe that it was the best year he could have lived.
After that.. It was a rush of events. He ran away from the gang, which sparked anger. He fell in love with Dodo's sister after meeting her in some place and that made him stay away from any kind of trouble at all. Then she died, and he had to promise to himself to keep Dodo safe.
Now his years with Dodo.. Somehow he felt loved. But it was not the kind he wanted. It was an empty kind, the one you could give and receive yet it never felt like it was enough. There was a hole in him still. Something else was lacking in his attempts.
He wanted some of Dodo's appreciation, the type he showed in Misaki. Yet he realized that Dodo was a teenager, and he usually tended to want to step on things with the sole of boots. Or the heel. It really did matter.
Everything he did was for Dodo. He kept up with that job of his so that Dodo can have most of the money he makes, and from there he can have a decent life. Mittaro did not want money, it could only buy him material. It was not able to purchase the one thing he felt like he really needed.
For the past few days he had been reflecting upon that for long periods of time. Somehow it felt like something about that.. Some part of it was supposed to have happened. He wasn't sure what it could be, but that feeling certainly lingered..
One day it hit him suddenly, and that day he left his investigating without notice. He needed to get home, and quickly.
After looking through his things at home for what he was looking for, he gave out a loud gasp. "Here!" he nearly cried to himself, feeling his entire being tremble with some kind of sudden and empty excitement. He yanked out a bundle of papers from a box in which he kept most of his private belongings.
While reviewing the papers in his hand, he felt his blood run cold and his face become pale. Once he finished all he could do was rub his temple with his thumb and forefinger.
"Lukka Sato.." was all he could mutter. He remained in that position for a while, sitting on the floor with his legs crossed. "That b------.."
How this name would help he, he wouldn't know. But he remained the person to which the name belonged to. The man didn't not know who Mittaro was, nor did he even have an idea of his appearance, but that did not mean that Mittaro couldn't know who he was. -
"Wicked b------!" he snarled under his breath, shoving the papers back into their box. He stood up from the floor and seemed more determined than when he was sitting down.
"His little crew.. Has to do something with this.."
Work that day would become harder, but now there was some hope. It seemed there had been a sudden break in available information.
Not just that, but this was a rare thing for Mittaro. Suddenly he was finally full of some hope that was not fake. It was sincere.

"Is that enough?"
The surroundings had changed consideringly during the hours they had moved along. For a few weeks they had remained at the same place, but they decided that it was time to move on before they were caught.
They were still surrounded by trees, but they were father away from civilization. The woods was full of an eeire kind of silence.
"Yes, place him here, Mimi."
A body was shoved to the floor, and it landed with a bit of a crack. The boy groaned loudly and writhed. "f---.." it muttered.
"Oh, poor you," Lukka sneered, glaring down at the boy beneath him. "You could have escaped this if you had decided to just tell me where my brother was."
Misaki was a complete mess. When they had said that they would starve him, they were not lying. Now he was nothing more than a wreck of skin and bones. He seemed like a ghost, in short. But yet he remained stubborn to their demands.
"I said from the beginning.. Dodo is going to be kept safe from you," he snarled, glaring up with equal amount of hatred. "You can do whatever, but that won't help you at all."
Lukka only stared bitterly, knowing that Misaki was keeping his word. "Whatever, kid. You'll crack.. eventually."
Eventually? It had been a few weeks since Lukka claimed that Misaki would break down under the misery. Nothing had happened since then. Misaki wasn't coming close to the edge either. He suffered physically, but he was still sane in the inside.
While the other two discussed possible plans, Misaki hardly even listened to them. All he thought about was home, about Dodo, about Dodo.. A lot about Dodo, really. He hoped that the other boy was doing alright, and that Mittaro was treating him well.
During that night his stomach grumbled and he was hit multiple times for unknown reasons. At the back of his mind several thoughts lingered and slowly tortured him, but he tried to ignore those thoughts when it was possible. He had to remain composed, otherwise he would show how he really had cracked under his misery.
He remained with this sense of hope that he would be rescued, yet hope to him was nothing more than a feeling you felt when at one's worse. It did no good to hope instead of take action.
But in Misaki's situation, there was nothing more he could do. -
