Thread Topic: How is this for the start of a story?

I trip over a chair and fall to the ground. All the shuffling, and the chattering silences. I lay my head back and close my eyes. Everyone stares at me.

I see him. His blue eyes stick out of the crowd. My heart hurts. The sting in my chest will not go away as I blink back tears. "Tyler, what are you doing?" I hear a voice ask. I look up. He is Tyler. Tyler McDaniel.

Its only because it is the first chapter. In most of my writing the first chapter is way shorter than the rest.

When life gets you down, you just get back up, so that is exactly what I did. I got up and walked away. The tapping of footsteps was close behind me, but I walked even faster. I turned around the corner and into the library.

The rows are long and the shelves are tall, perfect for hiding. I run to the back corner and shove my hands into my pockets. The tears fall quickly and at a steady pace. The footsteps have subsided, or so I had thought. When I was finally convinced that I was completely alone, I let the sobs out, they came long and hard with deep, cold breaths in between

I rest my head against the back wall and close my eyes. Suddenly the footsteps are back. My eyes rush open as I hear his voice asking me if I was okay. His voice was like caramel. It was sweet, yet rough. "I'm fine. Why are you not with your friends?" I asked sharply.
