You know, in all the years I've lived in the USA, I've never said the American pledge of allegiance if I wasn't forced to. I only say it I'm required to do so.
It's true, I never actually say it on Mondays at school, or during ceremonies. I don't plan on saying it either.
When I'm required to say it, I feel like I'm pledging my life to the USA, and I don't think that's right of me. I was born in Mexico, and if anything where to happen, a war, a tragedy, my heart is to that country, not the USA. If the USA and Mexico get into another war, then screw that you guys. I'm not fighting with the USA because even if I'm a citizen or a resident or whatever, Mexico is my home country and my allegiance goes there. I don't care if the USA is more badass and is surely going to win, or if it has better armies, weapons, whatever. I'm Mexican and I stand for Mexico.
Eh, and now I understand why you Gringos sometimes call me a terrorist. -
You get called a terrorist? o.e That you are not. I understand perfectly.
Eh, I'm an American. Born here, raised here and such. Plus I don't mind saying the allegiance since my dad's fought for this country. Though that's just me cause this is my native country. It'd feel weird if I moved somewhere I didn't care much for and had to say that pledge of allegiance. :S
I hope America and Mexico never get in another war. :O You my buddy, and I don't want my country to fight yours. Dx Mexico is a great country as well, and there's no reason for us to attack you guys except if America wants to be a bully. >:I I will not stand for that. -
*I understand perfectly what you are saying. :>
-
Yup, get called it all the time. But frankly speaking, I don't understand what they mean. I'm glad you understand what I'm saying though.
I can understand that fully, and I agree with it completely. I was raised as a Mexican and even if my brother decides he's fighting for America because he was Mexican-American, well that isn't changing me. Don't get me wrong, I care for America and all, but I just don't like it.
They're already in another war (blaming it on America's crappy smuggling skills), that stupid Drug War. But if you're talking major war, the two countries seem to be getting along fine right now so I'm not too worried. And yeah, I know. As much as I hate this country, I can't fight if I know I have friends in the USA. Dx And yeah, also it's that stupid grudge America holds over us because of the Alamo, but mainly because we're weaker and it's a nice opportunity to kick our ass. -
I hate that so many Americans are a--holes. .-. I hate how we treat anyone who is different badly. I hate how the media tries to make up lies and support the idea blonde, skinny rich people are what we should aspire to be. >.>
That's why I want to be the opposite and show people that not all Americans are like this. Hell, I would more likely be mistaken as Canadian than American. x3 I like Mexico a lot even though I've never been. And you're an amazing friend, so I will not stand for any stupid bullying from my country. >xI -
Yeah. Not everyone can be that way and it's stupid how the American media has to make us all self-conscious. What we should really be are kind, considerate, and welcoming people.
I really, really think you can do that, because like I've said so many times before, you're the perfect example of a good Gringo. And yeah, I think you could be mistaken as a Canadian than America. xD And you know, even though I make Mexico seem awesome, it still has its imperfections like any where else does (*cough*drunkards..*cough), but you learn to live with those little things. And same for you dude, if my country ever gets the bone to pick with America, which I doubt but it can happen, I won't stand for it because it's wrong. x| -
tongue AdvancedI don't blame you for pledging allegiance to Mexico first. Half of our country hates your people.
-
@Tongue
And that was exactly what I was thinking. -
Aw, thanks Arisu. :3 And I agree completely.
Psh, when I lived in Texas we had a lot of Mexicans and Latinos in our school, but from what I remember people didn't make such a big deal about your nationalities. It was like a melting pot there. xP Hawaii was similar, except a lot of Hawaiians sort of hated mainlanders and military kids.
Even here in Maine we get a lot of immigrants, or at least exchange students. :3 (We are so much more like Canada than America... xD) -
Eh, it's right of you: you were born in Mexico, you should stick with Mexico. I'm glad we don't need to say any pledges in Canada, luckily.
I can't believe you get called a terrorist. I'm, accoriding to my peers, "Almost brown, but a bit too white. A dry Mexican" and get the whole "Do we need to check you for bombs first?" jokes and such. I know how you feel, on that one.
Honestly, the big "joke" in Canada, or at least in Quebec, is making fun of Americans. That really is the big thing. In class, if someone mentions McDonald's, someone will always ask, "You sure you aren't American?". Whenever we want to sound stupid, we always say, "Hey y'all, why don't we all just get along? Huh? We ain't emenies...." It's sad, really.
Canada isn't all that great. And Ana, you do sound like one of us xD
