Thread Topic: Alright mods, we need to figure some stuff out
-
It seems that in recent incidents, hostility has started arising in response to requests of respect for the forums. This is most prevalent in miscategorizing posts in the lounge while the proper threads sit dead because of it. These posts have been asked to be moved for future reference and those requests have been ignored out of spite and met with hostility.
The question; is this offensive? And what action, if any, should be taken about it? This question whilst directed at my fellow moderators, is open to discussion for anyone else who has something constructive to add.
Thank you. -
I think that, to some extent, we should be able to moderate it. I don't know where we should draw the line, though.
Also, I'd like to know where in this hostility is the point that we respond. What kind of content makes up an offensive post? -
1. Do not harass, insult, or attempt to embarrass another person.
4. Do not post any spam.
These are really the only two possibilities we have from the rules.
insults from asking them to move can be flagged. And they could possibly be flagged as spam after the poster has been informed that we need them to go to the right forum. -
Because spam.
Alright, this makes sense. In that case, should we give offenders one last warning and alert them to this decision before we click anything else? -
I think we shouldn't have less patience for people because they post. But I do feel that we have to have a limit.
-
I wish more people would contribute. .-. We really need to have a widely-agreed upon limit.
-
I agree with the above points. I think that if two or more rules other than posting things gory or sexual. Are broken then we should penlized
-
Wait, are you saying someone posting p--- is in and of itself not enough to merit a penalty?
-
I think she's saying that Gore and sexual posts can be penalized, but if two or more of the other rules are broken, then they can be penalized as well.
-
Oh, alright. I misread it. I knew it sounded weird. Dx
I think that's fine. -
Here is what I think requires mod action...
-Sexual, racist, disrespectful(eg... "screw your parents then" in a heated argument or out of the blue) posts
-Spamming, intentional annoyance (eg... continues posting in a thread when asked not to by users and mods)
-Continues bouncing up threads from 3 months ago or more, revealing personal information about a certain user without their permission
-Intentionally creating fights and various arguments with users including drama -
-Unnecesarry cussing, since most users are 14 or below it is best to keep cussing as little as possible
-Intentionally trying to scare off newbies(eg, don't mess with this person or they will hack you) or annoying them.... I want to try and make this place a little more user friendly even if it means I am alone on this -
Okay, I'm just gonna pop in, even though I'm not a mod.
Kish, feel free to penalize me on this for being disrespectful or trying to start a fight (which I'm not, but you seem easily offended so who knows).
Those are unobtainable standards, and are too strict for the type of website we're using. Besides, if you can't solve problems like someone trying to start a fight or "scaring off" newbies without needing to penalize someone, you really don't deserve your current position.
And unneccessary cussing? Most of our users are under fourteen. They're going to swear if you like it or not. They're young teenagers. May as well let them get it out of their system on here, instead of in real life. -
This is why I no longer bother with this mod s--- because whatever I do that thing up there will find a reason to criticize
-
It's criticized, but not without necessity. Mod powers are a last resort to any situation, and even then the situation should be heavily weighted and put under a lot of consideration before tagging posts should ever even be thought of.
