what does the error say?

Mine shows an error something like... "This should not have happened, contact an admin" or something of that sort... won't link whatsoever
However if yours say it worked, I think you will need to log out of the account and log in again and see if that helps... -
Log in to original account.
Un link
Change name to new accounts name.
Log into new account.
Then link. -
