As far as tongue goes, it's simple, getting it out there in the first place is the most awkward part. Figuring out when to get it out there is somewhat tricky to figure out. But once you've started, you can easily just let him lead. Either try to follow his movements or just tease him a little.
As for saliva, spit is spit. You wont be able to tell if it's in your mouth because it's just like yours. As for when you're finished, you might have a little on the sides of your mouth. Once again, it feels just like your own so suck it up and whipe it off. There's nothing special about anybody elses mouth.
PS, my record is french kissing for 80 seconds straight. And me and my gf have even traded gum that way before. There are no surprizes or odd tastes. It's all just normal. -

Well..... beleive me or not I've seen some people in school french kissing and this is what I saw: they weren't trying too hard and letting it come naturally. I think everyone on the thread has given you good advice. :)
