If Jon is going to go to the army and is aiming to go this upcoming summer when he graduates high school.. I'll be 13 by then. He's going to be 18 at that time.
I have no idea when he'll return. Four years is what you serve, but I don't know at what time he'll be back.. So I'll be around 18 or 17 by the time he comes back. He'll be 22 or 23.
I don't see why he really wants to go. Usually he's so 'anti-war'. I asked him the other day and he says "Well, if I'm luck enough, I'll get training for college after I serve. Then I can get this amazing job to support us later blah blah blah."
But what if he doesn't make it the four years? What if he gets injured, and has to start all over again to get what he wants so badly? Even worse, what if he's killed? I've already lost someone to the war- I don't want to lose someone else. Especially not someone I know so well and love.
One more thing I don't get- He has money and smarts. He could make it without the training from the army.
But he's just so stubborn and doesn't want to listen. -
I agree, to be honest I personally don't think he should join. I've seen how much you sacrifice and people get crushed physically and mentally. He sounds like he has more options, which are better and safer. I wouldn't recommend him doing it. :o
When I was younger I considered joining, but then I realized how much it just wasn't for me. xP -
Yeah. I've told him that and his answer is always the same. He says he doesn't really care for that and that he just wants to serve his country. Hell this is why I can't stand him sometimes. He's so patriotic to this country instead of to his own country. I'm not saying it's bad, but he's forgetting his own heritage and s---. >.>'
But that's not the point, the thing is that he's so.. Not fit for the army, you know. He's just so small compared to the men you see there. Tall but skinneh. And he wouldn't be able to take all the damage. But like I said, his stubborn ass doesn't really want to listen.
I have too, but I realize I don't want to end up like the others. xP Dead. -
Yeah, I mean it's nice that he cares, but he really doesn't have to do it. .3. Not everyone is made for the military. My uncle who's an artist joining once but got sent out because he was having mental breakdowns.
What country again? ^^; Mexico or America? Or Spain? .3.
Same. :\ -
Yeah, I agree. And he's just one of those that wouldn't make it. And damn, mental breakdowns are the worst dude. :/
He's from Spain. That's why he's blonde, because if he were from Mexico his hair would have turned black a looong time ago.
Yeah.. -
Indeed. .3.
Yeah hehe. So he'll be in the Spaniard military? :3 -
Yep yep. Although he thinks joining the American military will be better (that's why I went on the whole ' i dont' care if you're a citizen of here now, you're not even patriotic to Spain why the furk do you want to go to the American military psh psh psh' thing.)because right here is where they give you education. I don't know if they do the same in Spain, but I'm pretty sure the serving is the same amount of years.
But of course he says that in Spain it may be safer. So he's not too sure. -
Yeah. :I They do give help for your education, my dad's going to let me use his GI Bill thing. But I don't want him in danger. There's got to be a better way..
What I'm going to do to save money is go to community college for the first year or two before I work on the major, because university prices are crazy.
What does he want to do for work? :3 -
That sounds like a good plan really. The prices for universities are insane now so simpletons like us might as well start off small. But like I said, he has money and I'm sure he could pay off university.
Mechanics. My dad took him to his work one day and he just loves it. -
Yeah. :3
Then he should be doing what he loves instead of going off to war. Tell him to think of it life this, once he becomes a professional in mechanics he can work on some military equipment like the trucks and stuff, which they can do in their home country instead of on the battlefields. If he really wants to serve his country, there are more ways then one of doing so. :3 -
Thanks a lot for your help, Ana. I'll tell him that. .3.
-
Anytime dude. I'm always here for yous. :3
