I think all my ideas ran out but i'll try. Let's say when the girl goes to hawaii, she enters in a singing competition her singing partner will be a new guy he's a surfer and really shy on stage but the girl convinces him (Alex) to sing with her cause he is an awesome singer.

Sh ort balck hair with light brown highlights, green eyes with gols specks in them, tall, tan, has six pack, surfer, awesome singer. Later on the parents divorce, the father now lives in Hawaii, so the girl can see him on holidays, and also see Alex, anyway back to current, Kevin shows up in Hawaii to see the girl
