I've been playing since I was 11. There's some heartfelt story behind it that ends in bitter rejection and betrayal and crud. Who cares. I was introduced to Brawl when I was at a cousin's house for the weekend. He taught me how to play, and that was the best memory of being with him. Years later, he turns around and calls it a baby game, pretending that he's too grown to be seen with me anymore, even though I too am an adult...
So, I held on to what he introduced me to. Playing Smash makes me remember the good times that he pretends never happened. And even though most of my siblings do the same thing, I still play Smash anyway because it's the one thing I'm good at that no one can ever make me feel bad about. You could say I'm the runt of the litter because I don't have any academic talents and I'm always struggling to impress others. This is my talent, and I'm not letting it go. -
I like to play Smash for about 2 hours (at the least) daily, on the weekend. Each time I play, it's like training to me. One day, I want to go to Super Smash Con and compete, but for now, I'll keep getting stronger. (I feel like one of those epic shonen animes--a dream come true!)
I mainly play as Snake, Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Inkling, and Falcon. They're all the best fighters. I've mastered Snake, having an understanding to his explosives, and I'm still coming up with new techniques each time I use him. I'm also getting better at using Samus' whip to its fullest extent. She's a little tricky as Zero Suit Samus because I love having the projectiles and range attacks, but I'm figuring it out. -
Been playing since Melee. I didn't really enjoy it all that much, but after playing Fatal Fury for so long, a bit of variation was nice.
Fast forward to 2008, and I was at a Halloween party where I found out that Sonic and Snake were in the newest game and I was hella hyped. So a few years later, had the game, co-opped with my older brother, and had a blast for at least 3 years.
In 2014, I was intrigued again when I saw the trailer for Wii-U's Smash. Not much interest at first, but I was ecstatic that not only Sonic returned, but Mega Man and Pac-Man would also be fighters. Hype was at medium peak. Fast forward to the second most hype reveal in the game: Ryu. I lost my mind when he was revealed, Mike can confirm. I had my love of fighting games reignited the day he released, and proceeded to obliterate those who had no idea how he played, or where he was from. Then, Cloud was revealed and I couldn't stop from laughing in excitement. This game was one of the best in character variation and I loved it. -
Then, 2018 happened and shattered my expectations. EVERYONE was back. I was eagerly awaiting what would come next when I decided to play Persona 5 for the first time, imagining how Joker would play if he were added. Fast forward to the game awards that year, and imagine my surprise on seeing him as the first DLC (aside from Plant.) I will now give short summaries on all of the DLC. I may be biased to a few characters.
Joker: Completely out of left field, but a welcome addition nonetheless.
Hero: Dragon Quest is a good series. Play it if you haven't.
Banjo-Kazooie: No way! That's dope as hell!
TERRY f---ING BOGARD: HELL YES! I am so glad he was added! He's one of the most unique fighters and I am ready to roll!
Byleth: Eh. It was alright.
Min-Min: Nice.
Steve: Wow. I didn't see this.
f---ING SEPHIROTH: As soon as I saw the slice, the sound of it made me feel.. terror. Despair. How ironic I rewatched Advent Children the day before.. The trailer was absolutely phenomenal and it was the second best reveal of this game!
Pyra/Mythra: Haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles 2. No idea, still cool.
KAZUYA MISHIMA: HYPED AS HELL! HE'S AN AMAZING CHOICE AND THE GREATEST AI TO FIGHT AGAINST.
Sora: I expected this. Go out with a bang, a big character reveal. It's alright.
As of this day, I currently have.. 5 characters I play religiously.
-Ken.
-Terry.
-Ryu.
-Kazuya.
-Sephiroth.
Now, please. Sakurai: Take a very long break. You definitely deserve it. -
Yesterday, I was playing with my siblings and I got a new character to try out: Dedede. He's not all that fast, so that sucks, but his attacks are STUPID powerful! He's alright, for playing around, but not a reliable character for heated battles. I can hardly get a hit in, sometimes.
Meanwhile, the thing with my sister is getting to be really annoying. She has a pattern, even though I'm starting to see through it. She uses the games glitches and cheats to take me out, and this is even more chicken a move than using the computer to do it.
Snake still hasn't lost to this, btw, but I switch up my characters so she can't learn my strategies.
Personally, I feel kinda done with playing with her. She's just no fun and she's only focused on taking me out when there are other people around. I've been having to play defensive against her and let her burn herself out, the way she's been fighting. I mainly dodge and use range to my advantage. And with all the jumping around, she usually ends up taking herself out with Sonic's stomp or Bowser's bomber move; she usually misses me and goes right off the board. Kind of funny, but still, not very fun.
And why is it that when she loses, she makes it a point to pretend that she's really happy right before doing something to rig the next battle? Why is it that she makes it a point to make sure I know that she KO'd me whenever she does it; she parades it around and says "I KO'd you, not that smart bomb; I did it, not the computer."
Like, what the heck is she achieving in telling me this?
So, not very fun when I play with her. I tried switching to team battles with her to get her to cool it, but whenever she felt I shouldn't have been the leading player, she would say "Mm-hmm," at the end of the battle, and next thing I knew, she was trying to tear me up again.
Seriously?
It's things like this that make you wonder: "How would Sephiroth handle it?"
He most likely wouldn't engage because it's just plain stupid, at this point, but if I don't engage, I won't get to play because she'll always hog the Switch, then.
