So I recently got an X Box and, as my family is obsessed with FF, Final Fantasy XIII is one of the first games we bought. I first played it a couple days ago and got my first impressions. And...wow. The parts that were dramatic and supposed to be awesome made me laugh out loud, and the parts that were supposed to make me laugh had no effect. I definitely don't hate it, but I don't love it so far. The gameplay also seems too easy so far.
It got me thinking, which Final Fantasy game is truly the worst??
I've only played Final Fantasy Adventure (GameBoy), Final Fantasy VII (ps1), Final Fantasy VIII (ps1), Final Fantasy IX (ps1), Final Fantasy X (ps2), Final Fantasy X-2 (ps2), Final Fantasy XII (ps2), and just started Final Fantasy XIII (X-Box 360).
XII was pretty awful, but I'd say the worst was X-2. That game was truly awful. It destroyed X for me. I guess on it's own it isn't the worst game ever, but it still sucks. God, I hate that game.
how bout y'all? which game do you guys think is the worst? -
XII's gameplay is quite good, but I dislike the story.
I haven't played XIII so I'm reserving judgement. The worst mainline Final Fantasy I've played is 2. -
The actual battle system XII has is fine, but the dungeons are just copy-pasted...and they're like 70% of the game so
Maybe it gets better later in the game? But yeah, the story completely blows.
I haven't played that one. Why do you dislike it? -
I felt like the dungeons in the ps2 era were kinda weak honestly. They were all pretty linear, a few of them had gimmicks to set them apart from the others but the vast majority were just go through room, look treasure chest, fight, repeat. :/
2 tried a new approach with how rpgs woul handle stat gains. To get more hp you would get hurt more, deal damage to raise attack, etc. It lead to people going to areas with low level monsters to go and beat up their party members to increase stats. xD it was a broken system, but it's about the only thing wrong with the game.
It may be my least favorite but I definitely don't hate it. I find that I can't bring myself to really hate any of the games. -

That's true. But at least X had an interesting story, even if it were a gimmick, and the spheres, weapons, and hidden aeons give it some replay value. Then you have XII where...it's just bland. The characters are uninteresting, the story is unoriginal, and the whole level up system thing is just really tedious and annoying. That game drained the life out of me with how absolutely pallid it was. The only thing I enjoyed in that game was Fran's hair animation. I really liked watching her hair bounce. Pretty.
OOh, yeah, I've heard about that. That actually sounds pretty hilarious. I want to play the game now.
The video is blocked on my school laptop. What is it? -
Which one is the best?
-
im a basic b---- so i like 7 most
-
Three on the famicom to me bready. It introduced the job system, had the best story of the original three games, and was the last difficult game in the series. After three the games dropped difficulty. For example I love 6 and 7 and have played through them many times but they are too easy. If you know what you're doing with the materia combos, many bosses won't even get a turn if you have the stats to back up your setup. And the spells in 6 are broken. X brought back some difficulty with fights like Seymour Flux.
I would like XII better if the environments were better and more varied. Ivalice was shown in Tactics and Vagrant Story to be more than just bland desert with a few different snowy and watery areas.
Fran is my favorite character. She's my party leader. I have mainly a mage/ archer for healing, but right now she, Ashe, and Vaan are doing dps. I do like how you can change what characters are proficient with. -
I like FF5 most because it was the only one I made decent progress in.

Gonna be honest the ones worth playing are
1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10
Never was into 7 that much -
But I love six
