Thread Topic: Are eating competitions a sport
-
Likeaboss NovicePlease explein why you think it is/isn't.
I think it is because
a) You have to train for it
b) It's a competition
c) It has rules like any other sport. -
I dont think its a sport because:
1) every other sport i know of makes you loose weight if you train really hard for it. This makes you gain weight.
2) you could get sick and die from it (not that i dont think you coyld die from any other sport, its just in a different way)
3) you never see any eating competitions on tv. You see every other sport on tv, whether its often or not -
In response to Sports's post:
1) Not necessarily true. In fact, many people could gain weight in other sports through building muscle onto their body. Sure, it's different, but that doesn't necessarily go against it.
2) Again, it's different, but in many other sports people get serious injuries as well. Too much forced exercise and exertion of one's body will damage it as well.
3) Ever seen Man vs. Food?
Now, it's not a 'sport' I'd recommend doing, but it is a competition of some sort. -
Likeaboss NoviceGood arguements... I still think it is though because we scratched out your explainations, Cori. Sorry
-
No, I don't think it is because there's nothing physical about it. Do you gain muscle? No, just some fat. I will agree that it is some sort of competition, but not a sport.

Rainicorn NewbieBo. Same reasons as Cori
-
I agree with daughter of apollo
-
By gain weight i didnt mean muscle weight (even though i know muscle weighs more than fat). I meant fat weight. I was tryna be nice by saying "gain weight" instead of "fat"
-
DOA- thats basically what i meant by my explainations. Theres nothing physical at all about it. In my opinion, its just a bunch of people stuffing their faces with food. And yes, i agree thats its a competition, but that doesnt nessecarally make it a sport
-
I don't think it is. You do not get fit and it has no health benifits.

madalyn12033 NewbieNo, I don't think it is. Playing a sport is about trying your hardest. Both physically and mentally you need to be ready to play and give it your all. For an eating competition you just need to be hungry.
