Lavender and Maeve

Lavender gave a small nod. "Right." She mumbled, leaning into her. "I just.... I don't want to be hidden away, or 'just a friend' whenever we're in public." She sighed. "Sorry, I'm making no sense, lets just forget I ever said anything-"
-
‘It’s okay, I get it,’ Maeve said softly, hugging her close. She leaned her head on her shoulder, looking up at her. ‘We’ll figure something out, okay?’
-
Lavender nodded. "Okay." She held her tight, not saying anything for a minute or two. "I'm sorry."
-
‘Sorry for what?’ Maeve asked, stroking her hair as she held her close. She wrapped one of her arms around her.
-
"I know it's not fair to pressure you to come out. It could be really problematic for you, and I don't want you to get flooded by paparazzi or anything. I'm just being selfish and paranoid."
-
Maeve held her close. ‘I don’t think you’re being selfish and paranoid,’ she said quietly. ‘I’m just… scared, okay? Nothing to do with you, I promise.’
-
Lavender nodded. "I know." She gave a small smile. "You can tell them whenever you want. No rush. It's not a big deal." Okay, so maybe the last sentence was a lie, but she didn't want to worry Maeve any more than she already was.
-
‘Are you sure it’s not a big deal? It feels like a big deal,’ Maeve said, fidgeting with Lavender’s hands.
-
Lavender's smile faltered. "I don't want to make you worry. It'll be fine."
-
‘Well, now I’m worrying. Are you sure you’ll be fine?’ Maeve asked, frowning slightly and holding her close.
-
Lavender nodded. "Yeah, I just.... I want you to be mine all the time, not just when we're alone, or when the cameras are away." She frowned, burying her head in her hands. "That makes me sound like a possessive freak..."
-
Maeve frowned slightly. She played with Lavender. ‘What, you think I’m going to run off and abandon you when the cameras come out?’ she asked, trying to joke around, but failing miserably. ‘I still love you, and I’m still yours. It’s just… secret.’
-
Lavender looked up at her when she made the joke about abandoning her, not sure if she was joking or not at first, and then getting mad at herself for letting herself believe for a moment that Maeve would seriously leave her. She wondered if Maeve could see the panic in her face.
-
Maeve’s half smile faltered when she noticed her expression. ‘Sorry,’ she said quietly, holding her closer with a nervous chuckle. ‘I would never, you know that, right?’
-
Lavender's head was spinning. Maeve just made a joke about leaving and then said our first i-love-you's holy s--- "I-yeah. Totally." She mumbled, leaning into her.
