Clay’s mother knocked on the door, waiting for an answer.
-
“Who is it?” Clay asked a little hesitantly, looking over at the door and pulling out his phone.
-
“It’s your mother,” She said, opening the door herself and strolling in. “How was your night? Did you sleep well? Good night in, wouldn’t you say?”
-
“Uh, yeah- My night was fine,” Clay said with a nod, sending a quick text to George telling him not to come by yet before turning his attention back to his mom. “What’s- what’s up?”
-
“But, what did you do last night?” His mother said, crossing her arms. “I heard- from a little birdie you were in your nice suit heading towards the garden. And- Oh! Here it is, on the floor,” she said, pointing to her sons suit abandoned on the floor the night before.
-
“Uh- Right, yes, I-“ Clay spoke, panicking a little. “See, I- I was working with Dad, last night,” he spoke, putting his phone in his pocket.
-
“Well, that’s interesting, because I was with your father for most of the night, so,” She said, glaring at her son.
-
“Uh-“ f---, f---, f---, what do I do- “Well, I- I went out with Sam and- and some friends, and we went to- to some fancy restaurant s-so, y’know-“
-
His mother narrowed his her eyes, watching him for a moment. “That’s all? There’s nothing you want to tell me?”
-
“No, we- we just went out, that’s all-“ Clay said, his voice shaking ever so slightly.
-
“So, if I went and asked your sister right now, she’d say the same thing?” The queeen said, pointing a thumb behind her.
