Mason looked down, holding onto Chris tightly. He wiped his eyes, trying not to cry.
-
“Chris, go to your room,” Jared spoke angrily, pointing upstairs. “But-“ “DON’T f---ING ARGUE WITH ME,” his father shouted again, jabbing his finger over at the stairs. “And you, get the f--- out of my house,” he added, glaring at Mason. “No, I’m not gonna listen to you if you’re gonna shout at me and my boyfriend!” Chris shouted, angry tears welling up in his eyes. “Chris, please, just- listen to your father,” Teresa spoke, her voice shaking.
-
Mason looked at Chris, forcing a wobbly smile. He pressed a kiss on his nose, squeezing his hand. ‘I’ll go. I’ll see you at school, okay?’ he said softly, trying not to cry.
-
“Don’t f---ing touch him!” Jared shouted, pulling Chris away from Mason. “Shut up! Don’t yell at my boyfriend!” Chris shouted back, yanking his arm free. “GO TO YOUR ROOM,” Jared declared angrily, shoving Chris towards the steps. Teresa walked over to Mason, leading him to the front door.
-
Mason looked back at Chris, tears streaking down his face. He looked down, and couldn’t help back feeling this was all his fault. He walked out the door, glaring at Teresa, then unlocked his car and climbed inside.
-
Chris watched Mason walk off with a heartbroken look on his face, tears rolling down his cheeks. He glared at his father and stomped off to his room, ignoring his yelling. He walked into his room and slammed the door, slumping to the floor and sobbing quietly into his hands.
-
Mason drove off but pulled over when he left the street, then buried his face in his hands and sobbed.
-
(ts to school?)
-
(Sure)
-
Chris arrived at school the next day, not bothering to wait at the front of the school for Mason to arrive.
-
Mason walked into the school. He wondered why Chris wasn’t there, waiting for him. He walked inside and to his locker, then to Chris’s.
-
Chris stood at his locker, pulling out his books he needed for the next class.
-
‘Hey, love,’ Mason said, wrapping his arms around his torso and burying his face in his shoulder. ‘You okay after yesterday?’
-
Chris didn’t respond, his mind torn between wanting to throw himself at his boyfriend and hug and kiss him, reassuring him that everything would be okay, and the other side: his father’s words. If you don’t break up with her, you are no longer my son. He exhaled, grabbing his books and shutting the locker.
-
Mason frowned, looking up at his boyfriend. ‘Love? Baby?’ he asked, cupping his cheek. ‘Talk to me, please. Your dad had no right to say those things.’
