“Oh,” George paused, staring at the counter in front of him and taking another bite of the bread in his hand. “That makes sense.” He looked out to the hammock outside, grabbing the pack of bread and a blanket to head out there.
-
Clay watched George, chuckling. “Interesting snack choice, George,” he said, following him outside. “But, wait- what- what do you mean, ‘that makes sense’?”
-
“Because I feel like, extra s---ty today, and I don’t remember a thing from last night,” George said with a shrug, laying down on the hammock and covering his eyes with the blanket he brought. “And I’m not a forgetful drunk.” He added, finishing off his piece of bread.
-
“Right,” Clay spoke, nodding. He watched him for a moment before sitting down on the hammock beside him, exhaling. He took another sip of his water, staring back at the house. “I’m sorry that happened, I- I didn’t think something like that would happen- would happen again-“ He covered his face with one hand, groaning softly.
-
“Happen again? What do you mean?” George asked, not uncovering his eyes. “The last time that happened to me was back in the UK.”
-
“I- Never mind, just ignore my rambling,” Clay muttered, setting his cup on the grass. He laid down on the hammock, covering his face with his hands.
-
“b---- stop being mysterious and spill,” George said, taking another bite of his bread. “I love a good story.”
-
“It’s not a good story, trust me,” Clay replied, a bitter chuckle escaping his mouth. “I- I told you that I don’t like those girls, Jolie and- and the other one, right?”
-
“Yeah, what’s with ‘em?” George asked, blinding grabbing another slice of bread.
-
“I uhm,” Clay started to speak, feeling his chest tighten. They told you not to say- They told you they’d ruin your life- But I have to tell someone! He exhaled shakily, folding his hands together. “I had uhm, went to a party of theirs last year, and- and uhm, someone- someone slipped something into m-my drink. I- I was dragged into a room by the girls and-“ He stopped for a moment, his hands trembling. “And t-they r*ped me. They- they touched me and did things to- to me and I- I couldn’t stop them- Then they t-threatened to tell everyone- everyone at school that I was the one w-who raped them- They- they said they would r-ruin my life, and I- I just stood there and a-accepted it…”
-
George frowned, lifting up the blanket a little to look at Clay. “Dude, I’m so sorry that happened to you. Have you told anybody else?”
-
“No, no one other than you,” Clay muttered, covering his face with his hands. “They- They threatened me not to tell anyone, said they- they would just t-tell everyone I was the one who r*ped them.” He exhaled shakily, rolling onto his side a little and hiding his face in George’s arms. “No- no one would believe me, anyways…”
-
“Hey- woah, okay,” George said softly, patting Clays back awkwardly. “You seriously need to tell someone about this- like your parents, or like, I dunno, a teacher. Someone that can actually help-“
-
“I can’t, George- I- I can’t,” Clay muttered, exhaling shakily. “If they found out I- I told, they’ll just- twist the story, make everyone think I harassed them-“ He leaned back against the hammock, rubbing his face with his hands. “I can’t…”
-
“Okay, but-“ George paused. “At least tell your parents. And- and if it gets out, I’ll back you up!”
