“That’s totally fair,” Clay said with a chuckle, nodding. “I mean, after what I said, I’m surprised you’re even considering forgiving me.”
-
“Yeah, you’re lucky you’re easy to read and I could tell it was a defense mechanism~” George said quietly. “I am- I’m still really upset though. Cause like, you did kinda cheat on me, y’know? I know it wasn’t like a thing you wanted, but still-“
-
“I know, and- I’m so f---ing sorry…” Clay exhaled softly, running a hand through his hair. “You don’t have to forgive me any time soon, I promise-“
-
“Yeah,” George said softly. “I- I’m thankful that you came and asked for forgiveness, though. That’s hard to do.”
-
“I would’ve hated myself if I didn’t come apologize, honestly,” Clay said with a sigh, watching George for a moment.
-
“And that’s shows you’re honest,” George said softly, locking eyes with Clay. “At least a little. So- yeah.”
-
Clay exhaled, a small, tired smile on his face. He hugged George close again, resting his head on his shoulder. “If you don’t want to date anymore, I totally get it.”
-
“Maybe- maybe not for a little bit,” George said softly. “Like, a break. Maybe we can talk a bit and figure out some boundaries and stuff.”
-
“Of course,” Clay said with a sigh of relief, nodding.
-
“Let’s do that, then,” George said with a nod, studying Clay for a moment.
-
“That sounds good to me,” Clay replied with a nod, letting go of George. “I uhm, I think I’m gonna go take a shower really quick- I need to cleanse myself of Jolie’s touch,” he muttered, rubbing his arms with his hands.
-
“Yeah, go for it,” George said with a nod, frowning a little bit at the bruises. “I can try to like- patch you up afterwards. I dunno how I would do that, but I can try.” He said, chuckling quietly.
-
“I think I’ll be okay, don’t worry about me,” Clay said with a sad smile, running a hand through his hair. “I kind of did this to myself, so don’t worry about it.” He watched George for a moment before turning, walking off.
-
“What- why can’t I worry about you? I’ve wanted to help. You still won’t let me?” George said quietly, trying to be gentle.
-
“No, you’re- you’re right, I’m sorry,” Clay murmured, turning back. “I just- I feel bad, considering I did this to myself.”
