It was late when Selene went back into the room. Ernie was laying down next to Mahina in bed, trying to get some sleep when he heard her walk in. "Hey." He whispered.
She looked startled. "What're you doing, still awake?"
"I couldn't fall asleep. Where'd you go?" -

Mahina stirred at the noise but didn’t wake, snuggling into Ernest.
Selene glanced at Mahina, then back at Ernest. ‘Come with me to the kitchen. I don’t want to wake Nina.’ -
Ernie glanced at Mahina before slowly and quietly moving out of the bed, following Selene into the kitchen.

Selene leaned against the counter.

"Well, where'd you go?" Ernie asked. He didn't notice this in the dark of the bedroom previously, but Selene had leaves in her hair and her outfit looked covered in dirt and twigs, indicating she was searching the forest.

Selene sighed, picking a twig out of her shoe. ‘Could you promise not to tell Nina?’

Ernest nodded. "Yeah. But why can't I tell her?"
