Selene seemed satisfied with that, turning her attention back to fixing the staff.

Mahina pointed her staff at Ernest. ‘Ok, let’s try this again.’

Ernest nodded. The wand shooted a blue light at him, but nothing seemed to happen for a moment.
"I think the wand's broken too-" Ernie said before noticing his voice. It sounded at least 2 octaves higher than normal. "Never mind." -
Mahina burst out laughing.

Ernie rolled his eyes. "I hate this stupid voice."

Mahina giggled. ‘I like it.’

"It makes me sound like a dorky little kid."

‘Well, you are dorky.’

"Rude!" Ernest's voice cracked in the middle of the word. He looked incredibly embarrassed.

Mahina laughed and kissed his nose. ‘You’re adorable.’

Ernie rolled his eyes. "I sound like a boy going through puberty." He complained.

‘Well, technically you are,’ Mahina said. ‘Just a few years younger.’

"Whatever. I hate this." He complained. In his high pitched voice it sounded like a whine.

Mahina giggled. ‘Okay okay, I’ll change it back.’

"Good!" Ernest glared playfully. "If you make my voice ten times deeper I swear..."
