Mahina poked her head out of their room. ‘You took your time.’

Ernie nodded. “I guess so.”

‘So, did you find them?’

“Not exactly…” Ernie shook his head.

‘What do you mean, ‘not exactly’?’

“Well, we thought we found them, but…”
“It was an illusion.” Selene summed up. Ernie nodded. -
‘Interesting.’

Ernest nodded again. “Yeah.”

Mahina sat down. ‘Hm.’

Ernie leaned against the wall. “Where would they even go?…”

Selene sighed. ‘I don’t know.’

Ernie frowned, thinking.

Mahina glanced out the window.

Ernest didn’t notice. “Maybe they’d go to one of the villages?..”
