Jayd glared, squeezing Chester's hand.

Chester closed his eyes, rubbing the bridge of his nose. ‘Don’t you think I’ve got enough to deal with, Cleverly, without you shoving your ideologies down my throat? Do you see this?!’ He flexed his phoenix wings, which poked through his shirt. ‘It’s exactly as bad as you think. Now get out of my sight.’

Cleverly glared daggers at the two of them. "I'm trying to make sure our king doesn't keep making careless decisions!" He snapped. "But he's too blinded by this one-" He motioned towards Jayden, who just leaned into Chester more. "-to notice what he's doing!"

Chester’s eyes turned red. He stared at Cleverly, growling. ‘Get out!’ he shouted.

Cleverly couldn't object even if he wanted to- which Jayd was sure he did. He just got up and left. Jayd avoided Chester's eyes just in case he ordered him to do anything.

Chester’s eyes returned to normal. He looked confused, and even surprised that Cleverly had followed his order without question.

Jayden looked up at Chester after a moment, breathing a sigh of relief since he was back to normal.

Chester looked down at him. ‘What’s wrong?’

"Your eyes... Your eyes went red." Jayd said quietly.

Chester’s eyes widened. ‘s---!’ he shouted, standing up.

Jayden stood up as well. "What're you doing?" He asked. "He did what you wanted, right?"

‘Jayden, I can’t order around my workers like that,’ Chester said, rushing to the door. ‘It’s not right.’

Jayd sighed, knowing he was right. He followed him.

Chester walked down the hall, where Cleverly was slumped against a wall, looking confused.
‘Cleverly, are you alright?’ -
Jayden trailed behind, leaning against the wall.
