"Oh stop, this is supposed to distract you from that!"

Chester shrugged. 'Fine, then. You ask me a question.'

"Hmm... Everyone here has a sort of supernatural thing. There was that girl with the fangs, you talked about a goblin, all that stuff. Do you have something like that, other than the red eye stuff?"

'You were not told?' Chester asked with a raised eyebrow. 'Strange. I'm a shapeshifter.'

Jayd's eyebrows raised. He was definitely not told that. Even with his crappy memory, he was positive he would remember something that cool. "Really?!"

'Yes,' Chester said. He was not expecting that sort of reaction. Even though shapeshifters sometimes weren't that common there were always some in large communities. It surprised Chester there wasn't at least one species other than humans occupied Jayden's kingdom.

"Could you show me?" Jayden asked, a mixture of curious and excited. "Please?"

'Are you sure?' Chester asked, furrowing his brows.

"Yes! Why wouldn't I be?" He asked curiously. "Is it bad to shapeshift here or something?"

'No,' Chester answered. He waited a moment before shapeshifting into a phoenix, just a bit smaller than a human.

Jayden's eyes widened. "Woah. Can you talk in animal form? Would touching you as a phoenix burn me?" He asked, shooting off the questions running through his mind.

Chester shapes---ed back into his human form. 'No and no.'

"Cool." Jayd grinned. "Could you shapeshift into people? Because if so we could pull the funniest pranks."
