"I don't think she agrees." Theo said quietly.

'Well it's none of your business, anyway,' Hazel said, grabbing the packet of biscuits from the previous night.

"Alright, my bad." Theo said quietly, wondering why she was so touchy and irritated about anything related to her stepmom.

Hazel watched him for a moment and took a bite from a biscuit, then looked away.

"Time to go!" Hazel's dad yelled, and Theo looked at Hazel.
"Still in the mood to go to the beach?" He asked. -
'Of course,' Hazel said, putting her thongs on. She grabbed two beach towels from her cupboard and chucked one at Theo, then walked towards the door.

Theo put his water shoes on and grabbed his towel, following Hazel.

Hazel hurried downstairs.

Theo followed her downstairs where the rest of the family was getting shoes on.

Hazel tied her hair in a messy ponytail. The 10 people loaded into two cars, Theo and Hazel in a white Toyota.

Hazel's stepmom was driving, and she looked like she wanted to talk to Hazel-Lee before deciding against it.

The surfboards were loaded into the tray at the back, then off they went.

Theo sat next to Hazel and baby Ally.

Hazel glanced at Theo, then back out the window.

After a bit longer the car stopped and they all exited and walked to the ocean.
