Heart shaped box

Collins make a squeaking sound when she heard the cries. She caught her breath and continued down the eery hallway.
'It's not real, it's not real,' she whispered, slightly louder than intended. When it got too dark to see she switched on her torch. 'You're hearing things. When it's dark and you can't hear anything you start hearing things that aren't there. Yeah, that's a good explanation.' -
Florence looked to his hands. He couldn't quite see all of the glass, so he decided to stand on his two legs. His legs were sore from the way he'd awoken. It's legs bent backwards like a goats almost. It was more effective according to his creator. He couldn't quite remember much else said about his design other than the mimicry. The creator had an idea of it, but everything was fuzzy without the heart.
-
Collins looked around, and chose a lab-like room. The was a desk and a glass wall separating half the room from the other. She peered through the glass. It was almost like a testing room or something.
She moved towards the desk and rifled through some of the papers. There was a box in amongst the mess. Collins ran her index finger along the intricate carvings, her brows creasing thoughtfully. -
A chill ran down Florence's spine. It silenced itself, listening closely. He was listening for the "heartbeat" he'd gotten used to. It was more important than whatever had hurt his hands
-
Collins took the box and set it on top of the papers so she could look at it closely. It was wooden and small, smaller than a shoebox. She opened it carefully and music played, a nice tune like a lullaby.
'How strange,' Collins mumbled. -
Florence growled loudly. He'd heard the lullaby, HIS lullaby somewhere below. He punched a hole through the rotting linoleum and aged concrete. Someone touched the heart. Someone he didn't know. They played the lullaby and they didn't return it. He crawled through the hole, his eyes turning blood red as he ignored the pain in his hands
-
Collins squealed as she heard the crash. It sounded like something broke. Either someone was pranking her or there really was something in this hospital.
She closed the box and the music stopped. Her legs felt weak with fear, she could barely walk, so she hid under the desk, trying to stop breathing so hard. -
Florence wandered into the observation room. The assistant often locked him here. He smelled the air and noticed two scents, first the heart was in the room, but also, a human. He looked on the table and saw the heart. He picked it up with his mouth since his hands were covered in cuts. He needed to find this human, but he couldn't lose the heart.
-
Collins cuddled her knees to her chest. She noticed a body in front of the table. Maybe it was the light, but it didn't look human.
What if it was a monster?
No, that was silly. It was a prank. Or maybe some nightmare.
She held her breath, praying that she wouldn't die today. -
Florence sniffed and his nose led him to the desk. He looked. It was dark. He looked under every desk in the room before he started pacing. It tried falling onto all.six once in awhile before rearing back up in pain
-
Collins made a squeal-gasping sound when she saw what "it" really was. Some kind of creatures other six legs and wings. It hadn't discovered her yet, which she assumed was a good thing.
'Maybe it's a good... animal?' she whispered to herself. 'Maybe it's not a monster...' -
(creature with*)
-
Florence mimicked the sound of a poorly tuned guitar. His wings extended and flapped as he continuously sniffed around the room. He knew the intruder was somewhere. He decided to check the observed room. It was connected to the observing room so the intruder might be there.
-
Collins relaxed slightly as the monster walked out of view. She peered out from under the table and watxhed the creature pace towards the glass, and took her chance. She took a deep breath and crept out from under the table, then sprinted out of the room.
-
Florence felt something run behind him. He turned around and sped towards it, tumbling on his bleeding hands until he decided to fly after the human.
