Eli walked out of their room, going into their mom's office, where she was typing some email.

'Hey, sweetie,' Eli's mother said.

"Hi." Eli sat on the floor. "How've you been?"

'Fine. Where's your friend?'

"Oh, he left." Eli said with a small smile.

'Alright. Can we talk?' their mother asked, whirling around in her wheely chair to face them.

"Of course." Eli said. "About James, or something else?"

'Everything,' she said. 'Why didn't you tell me about the bullying?'

Eli looked down at the floor. "I don't know." They mumbled. "I guess I didn't think it was important I guess."

'Not important! Of course it's important!' she exclaimed. 'You know you can tell me anything, right?'

Eli nodded immediately. "Of course! I just... Didn't want to worry you."

'I'd be less worried if you told me the first time it happened,' she said softly.

Eli nodded. "I'm sorry."

'It's fine,' Eli's mum said. 'Is there anything else that's been happening?'

Eli thought for a moment before shaking their head. "Nothing important."
