After a bit, they were a metre away from Eli. 'What did you find?' Callum asked.

"I think I found the edge!" Eli said excitedly.

'Really?' Claudia asked, jaw dropping.

Eli nodded. "I think so! It was a bit away, but I could see it!"

'Now we just need a way to destroy it,' Claudia said, looking at Callum.

"Maybe we could chuck a bunch of sharp debris at it." Eli suggested.

'No, it's far too strong for that,' Claudia said.

"Well maybe... We could.... Uhm." They trailed off, not having another solution.

'Callum,' Claudia said softly. 'You created this thing.'
'Don't remind me,' Callum muttered.
'You may be the only one who can destroy it,' Claudia continued. -
Eli didn't say anything, even though they agreed with Callum's mom. They understood why Callum wouldn't want to use that sort of magic again, but at the same time wanted the shadow destroyed as much as any of them did.

Callum looked away. He swallowed. 'I can't,' he said quietly, looking back up at his mother.

"Like you can't can't or you just don't want to?" Eli asked, tilting their head to the side.

'Both,' Callum said quietly.

Eli tried to get all the way up, and managed to get about a centimeter further.

Callum pulled the rope to help get back into the house.
