Skylar winced. "We can't be late for that. Let's hope they're in a good mood today and don't punish too many people." Of course, Skylar didn't believe that. She was only trying to stay positive. They were never in a good mood.

"Ye can't get anythin' better than 'maybe' when ye live in a place like this." Anthony retorted, pausing to eat what was left in the bowl and shoving it away. "I was thinkin' to myself, that's all."
Marvin glanced up at the clock, stopping what he was doing as he realized what time it was. He turned on his heel, knowing he would be late if he waited for Anti. He put the bowl away, shooting a regretful look towards his brother, and hurried off before he could be left behind. -
Michael frowned. They didn't quite understand, but had figured they weren't going to get much else out of him and finished what was in their bowl with a neutral swallow. In one swift movement, they stood and began walking away from Anthony and the wall. They set their bowl on top of the pile and left, behind the clump of kids that had already started walking.

Once the children reached the working part of the orphanage the boys and girls separated- the males heading to the grinding section while the females heading to the washing and mangling section.
(I know it sexist but it was like that back then) -
(Bump-)

(sorry, been busy these past few days, might be slow with replies.)
Anti watched Micheal walk away before getting up himself, swiftly putting his bowl with the others. He followed behind the other boys, but much slower, not really caring whether or not he got in trouble. Didn't make a difference, in his mind.
Marvin went with the other males, shooting a glance over his shoulder and praying that his brother would hurry up. -
Michael didn't care what the teachers(?) said about them looking like a boy. They often chose between working with the boys and working with the girls. Today they chose to work with the girls, and followed behind them.

Harriet turned around and gave a small smile at Michael wishing that Skylar hasn't been adopted. She knew it was great for her but she'd been so lonely without her. Instead she offered to partner up with Michael on one of the work stations.
-
Michael frowned at Harriet, how uncharacteristic it was for her to offer being partners with them, but nodded once without saying something.
-
Hattie rolled her eyes and gestured with her head to the work station which was a few feet away.
"Girls! Quit with the chit-chat, and get in with your work!" Mr. Taylor hissed then he spyed Michael with his beady eye. "What are you doing here you filthy squirt?!" -
Michael blinked several times before realising the deranged old lady was talking to them.
-
"I SAID, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE A GIRL, SO WHY ARE YOU HERE?" She boomed. She had forgotten her glasses which meant she was practically blind.
-
Michael frowned, crossing their arms. They didn't speak, partially because they wanted to see where it would take this conversation and partially because they were stubborn and didn't feel like it.
