Lachlan caught the headgear, thinking how reckless it was to throw equipment. Nevertheless, he pulled it over his head, then straightened his glasses.
'Veradun,' he said after a pause. 'You never did tell us the purpose of this piece of machinery. It allows us to travel into one's dreams, yes, but why do we need to?' He didn't say it in a rude or accusing way, he was genuinely curious. -
"science is much more complicated than people grant it." Veradun said with a scowl.

'We spent five months,' Lachlan sighed, 'on a machine that has no use?'

"i never said it had no use." Veradun said, a scowl crossing his face. "I am merely stating that science is mysterious, and you can learn. Nothing unless you take a leap. "

'Can you give a straight answer for once?' Lachlan asked, growing irritated. 'How can this machine help humanity thrive?'

Veradun ignored the questions. “Is everyone ready?” He called out.

Lachlan assumed Veradun was either too ignorant to answer the question or didn't know. He wasn't about to let five months of constant work go to waste, though, and nodded his head.

Veradun walked over to the keypad, and punched something in. “Everyone.. close your eyes.”

Lachlan wasn't sure what to make of this, so he closed his eyes in command.

“I Will now activate the morris harris duplicator.” Veradun announced.

Lachlan's eyes remained closed, but as he felt his glasses slipping down his nose he pushed them back up. His heart pounded faster in his chest the more he thought about what could result of the use of this machine.

“Lachlan?” Veradun called. “It would serve better to remove the glasses. We won’t need them where we’re going.” He gestured to the monstrous machine behind him.

Lachlan narrowed his eyes at the lead scientist, but did had he was bid. He removed his glasses and tucked them into his coat pocket, looking back to Veradun. 'Well?' he said, 'Shall we start?'
