'Alright,' Akari said, taking his hand and letting him help her up. 'Do you think your father will let me stay in the elf world?'
-
"He has to. You're a threat to our secret society to him." Oberon says. "Not that I think you're a threat!" He adds quickly.
-
Akari shrugged. 'That makes sense,' she said, pulling Oberon's jacket tighter around her. 'C'mon, I think the cave is this way.'
-
"Yea, that way." Oberon said, but in his mind, his inner self was banging on the walls, yelling 'stupid, stupid stupid! Calling her a threat!"
-
They soon got to the cave. Akari peeked inside, but nobody was patrolling, so she stepped inside and walked through the cave back to the entrance of the elf town.
'This view is incredible,' she muttered, mainly to herself. -
"mhm." Oberon said, distracted by his nerves, as he looked around. After noticing no one was looking for them, he let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "That was... Amazing. Thank you for taking me out there." He then felt a nagging at the back of his mind, then realized something. "Hey... I feel better. I don't know how, but I feel... Brighter. More energetic." He paused. "Do you think that's why everyone's getting sick? They need sunlight?" He said to himself.
-
Akari glanced at him. 'Maybe,' she said, shrugging, 'We could always investigate some more, maybe bring some of your elf friends out there to see what happens.'
-
"But if we did that we'd be in big trouble..." He sighed in frustration. Then calmed down. "When I'm Chief, I might be able to convince a small group of the healthy to go out and see what happens. Right now, I can't do anything."
-
Akari gave a comforting smile. 'Then it can just be a place for us two. Let's go back to your hut house.'
-
"Ok..." He says, smiling slightly. He grabbed her hand and wove through the paths to the hut.
-
Akari followed him. She opened the door and held it open for Oberon, giving a joking gentlemanly gesture for him to walk inside with a goofy smile.
-
His smile grew bigger. "You can take the bed if you want. I'll dig out some blanket and sleep on the floor." He gestures to the bed in one corner and goes to a chest to grab blankets.
-
'Are you sure?' she asked, stepping inside and closing the door behind her. 'I'll sleep on the floor if you're not.'
-
"I'm sure. Chivalry isn't dead with the elves." He chuckled a bit as he brought the blankets over, setting two on the bed for her and arranging the rest into a pallet on the floor.
-
Akari smiled. 'Alright, then. Thank you.' She sat on the bed and pulled off her boots, setting them on the floor. She would've kicked them off and to the other side of the room had it been her house, but it wasn't so she made sure to keep it neat.
