The look that came over Falter's face was a shock through the black shadow cast over his face. Though, It was rare to find someone who hadn't turned away at one glance.
"Ah, well- I don't know where to get grapes around here." he'd awkwardly rest his hand on the back of his neck. -
She smiles wider still, bouncing on her toes a bit.
"This looks like a pretty big city! I'm sure we could find somewhere to buy some! My treat!" -
She scoffs, raising an eyebrow and doing an overall terrible job at hiding her eavesdropping. This girl was too friendly. Very suspicious.
-
"Oh, alright. Lead the way. I bet you know this city more than I do." Falter assumed this person was local to the city, so it was lucky for him to have someone to tag along with. He travelled often and didn't stay in the same place for long.
From the corner of his eye, he'd notice some girl staring. He was accustomed to people staring at him for the longest time, and it was considered the norm if he were to ever wander out for a little stroll in the park. He'd turn his head and look at the other person in the area, looking straight at them "May I help you?" he asked in a soft-spoken tone. -
She missed a beat.
"Actually," she replied, voice hushed like she was telling him a secret. "-I've never been here before. I don't know where I am or how I got here."
She hadn't realized she was leaning toward him, eyes wide, until she was done talking, and she backed off a bit.
"But it looks like a pretty normal city, so I think we should be able to find some grapes!" -
She straightens up in her seat when he addresses her directly.
"I doubt it." she responds curtly. "But I can help you. That girl isn't right. She's too nice, and way too relaxed for someone that just blinked into existence in a strange place. I think she's a threat. I wouldn't go anywhere with her if I were you." -
She looks hurt.
"I'm not dangerous, I'm just like that." she pouts. -
Falter seemed a little skeptical and wasn't sure who to believe. But he's lived through so many events at this point he'd rather just have it all play out in front of him. "I could say the same thing about myself," he'd state in such a brief sentence.
"Do you know her?" Falter asked the one who was a bit on edge about the person he had just met, sitting far away from them. -
She blinked slowly.
"Of course I don't know her. But I'm not the one about to wander off in a strange city with her." -
She perks up a bit at that.
"But you could! If you're worried I'll hurt him, come with us! Aren't you lost too? There's safety in numbers!" -
"I'm just surprised how you're more concerned about me wandering into the city with her than you are about her wandering into a city with somebody whose face looked like it got eaten by a TV." He'd poke fun at himself in attempts to enlighten the mood.
-
She glares at Caaguru for a moment, then turns her attention back to the man.
"She's the one that approached you. And besides, I've seen plenty of scarier things than you." -
"I'm just trying to make friends. Why are you being mean?"
-
She gawks at the younger woman.
"You're kidding, right? I'm trying to help. Am I the only person here with any sense?" -
"Well if you are so concerned with me, I think you should tag along."
He'd agree with Caaguru, "We'll get grapes together. How about that? So if anything happens to me, I can be like Oh you told me so!"
His arms crossed, at this point, he was intrigued that he was able to get into a conversation in the first place. However, it was even more interesting how she stated she'd seen something scarier than him. Was there something else that shared this place with him? The thought of it stuck with him for a while before he disregarded it as unnecessary.
