Fracture padded near silently through the halls, his bare feet clicking against the hardwood floors, and found Henna just in time to hear Anna and Beth passing on the news. "Oh. Their here already?" They asked quietly, their wings twitching a little as he tilted his head
Little Light heard Anna and Beths giggles, and ran to the main hall to investigate. A bird like chirp escaped the former sky child when they saw Hogarth, and then they ran over to get a closer look at the new person, circling him with curious chirps -
Ada immediately perked up at Whillow's news. "A guest? Really?" standing up from her seat she gave a large stretch and adjusted her dress. "Well okay, let's go." She set off towards the dining room, for once actually excited to do her chores.
"A guest?" Archer asked, trying to catch Whillow before she left. "Who would be coming to visit us? And why?" he started carefully clean up the table, making sure not to damage any of hi materials. -
Hogarth thought he saw something at the end of a nearby hallway. It looked like two girls in identical clothing. Just as quickly as they appeared, they disappeared. This freaked Hogarth right out and he said “Please tell me I didn’t just see the ghosts from The Shining.” Just then some small child ran up to and around him, causing him to scream a little. He then realized the kid meant no harm and said “Oh, hello. Who might you be? Why are you here?”
-
"It's some human. I saw him in Lemniscate's future when I brushed past him in the hall on his way to the living room. The human will join us for dinner." Whillow explained to Ada and Archer. Whillow walked a few paces to a window nook in the library, where Warrin often sat melancholy and dramatic. He seemed to be in one of his moods, since we wasn't visible at the moment.
"Come on, Warrin. Henna wants you to help too," Whillow whispered. Warrin become a bit more tangible and flicked his long hair. "Maybe by doing some activity I can... ignore the ghosts of my past," He says solemnly.
Henna finished collecting the clothes. Anna and Beth offered to do the laundry while Henna prepared dinner. "Oh girls that's so sweet. Don't put spiders in the washing machine again, though. Love you!" The goliath woman kissed the girls on the forehead before heading off to the kitchen. Ariana was rolling around on the counter. "Oh, Ari, can you go watch the foyer? I hear there's a guest in there." Ariana hopped up once for yes and then rolled away. -
Fracture tilted their head slightly and then walked after Ariana when he saw her roll past, being very careful not to accidentally step on her. He had already done that once, and the resulting guilt and goop between the bones in his feet had thoroughly discouraged him from doing it again.
Little Light giggled, putting a hand in front of their face like they where covering their mouth, when Hogarth screamed. They then took his hand and started trying to pull him towards the lounge, their cloak flapping like wings as they did so -
"A human?" Ada asked, eyes wide. She caught Archer's eye before leaving. She made sure to put extra care into her chore, walking slowly when holding the manor's best set of dishware. She hadn't seen a human since.... Well, it had been a while. She made sure to set a special place of honor for their guest.
Archer, also intrigued by the prospect of a human visitor was unable to wait until dinner to meet this guest. Well, not necessarily meet, but observe at the very least. He could sense the energy of the household, the information must have spread quickly. He found himself drawn to the foyer, but held caution and stopped short of entering, peering around an arched doorframe to try to catch a glimpse of the guest.
(Oops sorry, my classes started last week and I got real busy real fast!) -
(Don't worry, we all get that way.)
Hogarth said "What, hey. Where are you taking me? I didn't even get a name." He didn't try to resist the child too much as he had a morbid curiosity about the manor. Also, it seemed like whatever the child was pulling him towards was urgent, so he just decided to go with it. Maybe there was more to the mansion then he thought. -
Whillow led Warrin to the dining room, following after Ada. The wisp girl made sure the tablecloth was shaken out and smooth before placing silverware on the sides of each dish Ada set down. Warring helped by placing napkins and cups, drifting in and out of visibility as he did so.
Henna mulled over the ingredients she had available as she prepared dinner. Frozen liver, iced hearts, animal parts from recent hunts, powdered snow, blood oranges... well, she supposed humans often ate meat from animals. Henna turned on the stove to start a stew and she unloaded the oranges so that she could begin cutting them.
Ariana rolled on the floor past Archer and dauntlessly followed after the human. -
Fracture stopped behind Archer as Ariana rolled past him, leaning over the boy to peer out as well. after a few seconds, they spotted Little Light dragging the human away. "...oh dear, I think Little Light is kidnapping him."
Little Light giggled again as they pulled Hogarth into the lounge, before letting go of his hand and running over to the couch Lemniscate was napping on. They jumped up onto the fears chest, and started bapping at his face to wake him up -
Archer jumped, not having noticed Fracture's approach. He stifled a curse. "I suppose. But who is he? And why were they so quick to invite him in?" He'd gotten a chill at the back of his neck the moment he'd spotted the guest, not that catching a chill in such a big house was so unfounded, but something intruiged him about this newcomer.
Once Ada had finished setting the dishes, she stood back to examine the table, wanting to make sure everything was absolutely perfect for the visitor. She scrutinized each setting, making the occasional adjustment before running off to the kitchen to find Henna. "Henna?" She asked. "Will I have enough time before dinner is done to change? I want to make sure I look... presentable for our guest." -
Hogarth looked at where the child went and suddenly became very scared. He had no idea what the creature on the couch was but be could clearly see it sleeping and it may not want to be disturbed. He then panickily started waving his hands in a no motion and whispered "No, please stop. Don't wake it up."
-
Henna, who had adorned an apron at this point, nodded at Ada. "Oh, but Ada dear, be sure not to be too... overbearing," Henna said, knowing full well about Ada's nature and special power.
Henna felt a gentle tug on the hem of her shirt.
"We finished setting the table," Whillow whispered to the goliath woman, standing on her tiptoes to make sure she was heard.
"And what a swell job you all did. I can handle the rest, you can go meet the human if you wish. Dinner will be ready in 20 minutes." -
"I'm not sure. He has a pure soul, but thats all i can sense" the fallen angel said quietly, ruffling his feathers before hesitantly stepping past the doorway. "We should probably help, before Little Light forgets that not everyone can fly like they can, or something similar" he said, seeming mildly amused
Little Light ignored the panicking human, chirping happily as they bapped at Lemniscate. Said fae started waking up, unending his eyes with a look of mild irritation before grumbling something in sylvan. Little Light then pointed at the human with a longer chirp, causing Lemniscate to look at Hogarth.
".....oh. your new." Lemniscate said slowly, his voice slightly muffled by the mask covering his face, before he started to sit up, causing Little Light to run back to the humans side -
"Hmph." Ada said, turning to exit the room. The second the door shut behind her she broke into a run up the stairs to get to her room so she could change. She had the perfect dress in mind-a modest number in a dark raspberry color, one that she hoped would look nice enough to allow her to heed Henna's warning.
Archer shook his head and followed Fracture. He could hear Little Light chirping from the other room. "I wouldn't be surprised if they scare the poor man off on their own..." he muttered quietly. -
Hogarth whispered, "Now you've done it." He then calmly said "H-hello. Yes, I am new here. And I don't want any trouble. Sorry for disturbing you, but I wasn't even aware anyone lived in this house. Are you the master of the house?"
