Clay wiped the tears away as he sighed. That was my response...jesus christ, why does history always seem to repeat itself!? "You don't believe me, do you?"
-
George paused, staring at the floor as he reluctantly shook his head.
-
"Why?" Clay asked quietly.
-
"I don't know," George said quietly. "Words just- are words. That doesn't mean they're true."
-
"Then how do I show you? How do I show you that I care?" Dream paused. "How do I show you that I- that I can't lose you?" His voice was strained and tears welled in his eyes.
-
"I don't know," George said quietly after quite a long pause.
-
Clay sat down on the floor and gently pulled George down with him. "C'mere," He said softly. He wrapped his arms around his friend and held him close.
-
George followed Clay onto the floor, flinching. "I'm sorry."
-
"Why are you sorry? Don't be sorry, Gogy." Clay whispered.
-
"You just- you're dealing with so much yourself and- and now you have to deal with my crap," George explained.
-
"Who said I'm dealing with my own s**t? If you weren't here I'd be lying in bed being a sad f**k, just waiting for something to happen." Clay looked down at George and smiled softly. "I want to help you, George. I pushed to get you here so you didn't have to deal with Matthew. I want to help."
-
George blinked, staring at the wall. "Okay," He said quietly, rubbing the tears out of his eyes.
-
"I've got you, okay?" Clay whispered. "Always. I'm never going to leave you. You don't have to do this on your own,"
-
George glanced down at his arm, nodding slightly. What if I leave you first?
-
"I can't lose you-" Clay mumbled as tears started to fall. The thought of losing George like that scared him more than anything else in this damned world.
