"Nothing," George defended. "I'm just going to the bathroom."
-
"Please don't lie to me-" Clay said sadly.
-
"I'm not," George said quietly.
-
"Please," Clay paused and ran a hand through his hair. "I'm gonna open the door-"
-
"No! Don't-" George said frantically.
-
Clay reached for the knob and opened the door. He glanced over at his friend and the knife on the counter. "I knew it-" He mumbled to himself.
-
George frowned, glancing at the floor in guilt. His grip around the cut tightened, which made him wince a little.
-
Clay walked into the bathroom and shut the door behind him. He grabbed more paper towels and gently moved George's hand out of the way. "You can't do this to yourself," He whispered.
-
George curled his fingers into a fist, continuing to look away from Clay.
-
Clay crouched down and applied pressure to George's cut. His throat tightened as he tried to meet his Friend's eyes. "Please,"
-
George winced, tears starting to fall down his cheeks. "I'm sorry," He whispered.
-
Clay reached up with his free hand and wiped George's tears away. "Hey, you have nothing to be sorry for. I- I understand. Completely. You just can't do this. You can't hurt yourself."
-
"But-" George protested. "I deserve it- I don't want to do this anymore-"
-
"WHAT!? NO!!" Clay's eyes widened with panic and he grabbed more towels. "No, please. You deserve so much more than you realize. Matthew wants you to feel this way. It's not your fault he did all of that to you, George. You haven't done anything wrong."
-
Tears continued to stream down his cheeks, and George realized he was just causing Clay more stress. Still being a burden, even though you're trying to get rid of yourself? Tsk. "Okay. I'm sorry," He whispered.
