Clay did nothing except nod at the camera before walking away. He went to a nearby tree and pulled himself up onto a branch.
"Bye chat!!" Karl said happily -
"Bye chat!" Nick waved, smiling.
George looked over to Dream, blinking. "Can you end stream? It's on your channel-" -
Clay pulled out his phone to end, but as he did he glanced at the chat. There were both good and terrible comments. "PUT THE MASK BACK ON", "AWWWW, DNF", "WTF Is wrong with these people?", "Go to hell, man no one cares", They just went on. Clay gasped and quickly ended the stream.
-
George lowered his arm, glancing over to Clay. "Did you look at chat?"
-
Clay nodded slowly. Tears welled in his eyes and he covered his mouth. Seeing all the hate made him feel sick.
"Oh no..." Karl said, his eyes widening. -
George frowned, glancing over to Nick.
Nick pressed his lips into a thin line, nudging his head over to Clay.
George's face fell he wanted to help his friend- "Dream, c'mere, hop off the tree." -
Clay shook his head in response. "I-I never should have- I can't believe I-" His mind flew to earlier when he was happy and telling chat how happy he was. Scared, but happy. He guessed it was all a lie.
Karl sat down on the bench next to Nick and leaned his head on his shoulder. -
"Dream, please," George stood at the base of the tree, gazing up at him. "Don't listen to them. They're all just strangers, they're opinion doesn't matter."
-
"It does, though. I-It affects so many things I-" Clay's voice broke and tears started to fall. "It makes it hard to go outside or- or stream it makes it hard to keep going..."
-
"I know, I know," George said softly. "But remember- remember you have people like Abby. And so many of them, too.
-
Clay dropped down from the tree but almost collapsed. He caught himself on a low branch and choked back a sob. "What happens w-when those people leave?"
-
"They won't, George said, shaking his head. "Because I'm gonna be here, and so is Sap, and Karl, and Bad, and Wilbur."
-
"You can't say that-" Clay protested,
-
"Why not?" George asked quietly.
-
"You don't know for sure," Clay whispered. "Something could happen or I could do something wrong. I should have bled out at the beach-" His grip tightened around the branch and he refused to meet George's eyes.
