Kenna quickly rushed in. She let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. She didn't know how to put how grateful she was into words.
It was then that she realized that she hadn't answered his first question, being too consumed in getting to safety. "I'm Kenna," she said. -
Ander paused for a moment. It was subtle and very fleeting, but he had stopped in his tracks briefly when she said her name. The description, what had the name been? It surely was something like that. Maybe something with a K, at least. His suspicions grew, but he wasn't sure yet. He needed to know more about her: her connections, her family, a reason as to why his division might want her dead. If this was the girl, after all.
"I would say nice to meet you, but based upon the circumstances of your visit, that seems a little ironic," he said with a half smile, walking over to his cupboards. He needed to stall for time, in case she decided to leave early. "Can I get you anything? I have juice, water, tea, and spiders." -
Kenna made a weird face, something like smiley confusion but you know it's not too confusing. "Spiders?" she asked.
She had to admit he did a good job in lightening the mood. -
"Spiders it is, then," Ander said with an amused expression, reaching into the cupboard and pouring her a brimming glass of spiders.
(JUST KIDDING PFFT-)
(This is the actual response lol)
"Oh yes, spiders. I'm sure there's one or two hiding in my cupboards, seeing as I've put off cleaning them," Ander said with an amused expression on his face. "What would you like?" -
Kenna chuckled and shook her head. "Just some tea is fine," she said. "Do you have chamomile?"
-
Ooh the reference))
Ander smiled, an almost quizzical expression on his face. "Yeah, I do! One of my favorites, actually," he said, reaching into the pantry and pulling out a small box of tea bags. "Do you like cake? I have some in the fridge, but I never got around to eating it." -
(Reference?)
"What sort of monster doesn't like cake?" Kenna asked. She filled his tea kettle and put it on the stovetop. -
Chamomile is what she chose in the old one, it gave me some nostalgia))
Ander chuckled, pulling out two mugs and tying the tea bag strings around the handles. "I take it that you like cake then!" he said, reaching into the fridge. He pulled out a strawberry cream cake with a flourish. "Tada~! Your cake, madam." -
(Oh. Well I wanted to stay consistent, but it's also a relaxing tea)
(Also did you know you can use the same tea bag twice?)
That actually looks really good," she said with a smile. "Although I've never had this flavor." -
I did once, but I kinda forgot! Is it just as good the second time?))
Ander slid the cake across the wooden table in the kitchen, pulling a knife out. His instincts were pulling him to kill. It would be easy. He closed his eyes tightly, turning back to Kenna with what he hoped was a calm smile. "Never? It's excellent, I'll give you an extra big piece then." -
(1 teabag = 2 cups of tea. Sometimes the second one comes out a little weaker, though. If you're making two cups I'd put the water into a measuring cup, put the tea bag in, then pour it into the cups so that they're equally steeped.)
"Alrighty," Kenna said. While he was cutting the cake, she took the kettle off the stovetop. She never waited for it to whistle, because then the water was way too hot. She poured the hot water into the two mugs, then set it back on a cold burner. -
Ooh cool))
I love how whenever we have our characters make food, we always go into detail so it's like "Cooking with Tat and Spice" XD))
Ander cut two pieces of cake out, setting the fluffy frosted dishes down onto clean plates that he'd retrieved from the cupboards. He slid Kenna's slice over to her on the wooden table, although it didn't go quite as smoothly as one would hope due to different slashes and cuts marring the otherwise smooth and polished surface. -
(Well I don't know about you, but I'm trying to fluff up my responses a little so that they look bigger lol)
Kenna brought over one of the mugs and set it in front of Ander. "Wow, what did you do to those plates?" she asked, noticing the condition they were in. She went back to retrieve her own cup. Unfortunately she could only hold one thing at a time while she was on her feet. -
I'm a stickler for describing ✨the whole entire process✨ :') ))
Also it does buff up responses a bit))
And I meant the surface of the table but oopie))
Ander sat down in a chair, wrapping his hands gratefully around the warm mug as pleasantly scented steam rose up from it. At Kenna's words, he recalled a few fights that had gotten physical, his memory returning to the past. The whizzing sound of a knife thrown though the air, or buried into the wood of a table. The sound of things falling to the ground, shattering upon impact. Heavy breathing, and the steady drip drip drip of blood. A gunshot, loud and explosive, disturbing the quiet hum of the forest. Silence.
"Accidents happen," Ander said obscurely, an honest and innocent look in his eyes as he sipped some tea. Over time, he had learned to make a convincing poker face. -
Kenna looked at him at his vague response. She had a feeling that he wasn't telling her everything However, she didn't pry, since she didn't plan on staying very long.
She slid her plate over to where she was sitting, then sat down.
She was going to take a bite out of her cake when she realized, "We need forks."
