“Uh, I’m- I’m straight,” Clay lied, glancing at Toby for a moment. To be honest he wasn’t sure what his sexuality was, but he knew if word got out that he could be gay, who knows what would happen.

Toby nodded slowly, looking back to Tommy. "Another match?"
"Sorry about them, come here," George said, sitting at another table and setting up one more board. -
“You’re on,” Tommy said with a chuckle, resetting the board.
”It’s fine,” Clay said, following George and sitting down. -
"Anyways, uh, this is the king, and this is the queen," George explained, picking up two pawns and showing them to him. "The king can move one space at a time, any direction, the queen can move as many spaces as you want, just as long as it doesn't go over another pawn or off the board." He placed the pawns down again, picking up another. "This is a knight, it can move in an L-shape, any direction, as long as it doesn't go off the board." He placed it down, picking the one next to it up. "This is a bishop, it can move diagonally, but it cannot go over any pawns. And this is a rook, it can move horizontally any number of spaces, but it cannot jump over any other pieces. And the pawns, which you get a whole row of, can move one space forward at a time, besides at the start, which then they can move two spaces, but only then. They can only defeat other pieces by taking they diagonally. And if they can only move forward until they get to the other side of the board, where there they can choose to upgrade to become a queen, rook, knight, or bishop. Any questions?" George said, looking up from the board to Clay.

“Uh, no, I think I got it,” Clay said, furrowing his brows as he repeated what George said in his head.

"Okay, white goes first," George said, gesturing to Clay.

Clay nodded, moving one of his pieces. (i know like, nothing abt chess man :’) all i can play is checkers lmaoo)

"That was a bad move," Bad stated, having moved to watch them play.
George chuckled, moving pawn forward two spaces. (wanna ts to the end?) -

"Checkmate," George said, placing his queen down.
"Wait, how?" Bad asked, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Even if he moves his king that way, my rook is there, and if he moves his king the other way, my queen can get it, and my bishop is already cornering it the other way." -
“Guess I’m not very good,” Clay said with a chuckle, looking the board. “Honestly I got confused halfway through the game.”
”See? All jocks are stupid,” Tommy said with a chuckle, earning a smack on the arm from Mark. He yelped, glaring at the brunette. “You really get joy out of smacking me, don’t you?”
”Very much so, yes,” Mark said with a chuckle, nodding. “Now shut up.” -
"He's never played chess before, cut him some slack," George said with a chuckle.
"Unless you're in debt to Tommy, no slack will be cut," Toby stated with a laugh. -
”I’m sure I’ll get better eventually,“ Clay said with a chuckle, running a hand through his hair.

"You will, especially against George. I'm surprised he hasn't ridiculed you and given you a million- trillion tips on how you could be better," Bad said with a chuckle.
"What? No, I don't do that," George retorted.
"Yes George, yes you do," Toby said with a chuckle, looking over at him. -
“Yeah, they’re not wrong,” Mark said with a chuckle, nodding.
“I mean, I could use pointers if I want to get better,” Clay said, chuckling.
