The woman grinned at Erati as he continued trying to hide "some fishermen pulled it up after it got tangled in their nets just off shore. They contacted us and asked if we wanted it, which we obviously did!" She said happily

Doris clapped and said "I hope there's more of them. I can't believe this. A real mermaid. I couldn't have asked for something more exciting to take care of. I promise he will be given the best care. When will he be out of quarantine?"

The woman clapped her hands together "well some of the guys want to run some tests first, see if its healthy, figure out if its intelligent or not, maybe a brain scan or two, but hopefully it should be moved to a display tank in a few weeks! Because your its caretaker, you have the ultimate say so on what is aloud with it or not, and its your job to make sure it doesn't die"

Doris said "Alright then. Thank you for entrusting me with a great responsibility. Is there anything else I need to know?" -
(Esma)
She paused in thought "not that I'm aware of. We have what little information we gathered on the mermaid in a file thats on your desk, otherwise thats it" she said before turning to leave "if you need help just come find me ok hun?" She said as she left -
(Alright)
Doris said "Okay." as Esma left. She put her hands to the glass and looked at the mermaid, more excited then ever and completely ignoring his panicked state. She had always loved the idea of mermaids and now one is here and visible to anyone. She wondered if the mermaid could talk and walked to the top of the tank to find out. -
Erati saw her coming closer and pressed himself against the opposite wall, trying to make himself as small as possible

Doris got to the top of the tank and looked out onto the water. She then said "Hello. Can you hear me? Can you understand me? Let me know if you can."

Erati bared his teeth at Doris when she spoke, but otherwise didn't respond

Doris couldn't really tell if he could hear her but maybe he was just not comfortable yet. She decided she would check back later. She then left to read what notes they had on the mermaid.

Erati calmed down a little when she left, hesitantly swimming up to the surface

Doris sat down on her desk and started reading the notes that they had on the mermaid. All they had on him was that he was possibly carnivorous and the location he was found. Doris hoped to learn more with her time here.

Erati looked around for any more humans before he started trying to pull himself up out of the water, trying to escape.

Doris started opening her briefcase and placing a few pictures around her desk to decorate it a little bit. She looked at the picture of her dad and smiled. She bet he'd be proud.

Erati grunted as he managed to pull himself up onto the ledge, pushing his hair out of his face as he looked around again. It was harder for him to breath on land then the water, but he would deal with it if he wanted to go home
