Adam stood next to Natalia. "Your Natalia? Right?" He smiled

"Yeah," she said with a nod. She was trying to gather up whatever inklings of courage she still had.

"Well, nice to meet you Natalia" Adam smiled. "Oh, I'm Adam by the way." He held a hand out.

Natalia discretely wiped the sweat off her hand then shook his, hoping he didn't feel how hot hers was. He was just so...perfect.
"I have something to tell you," she said quickly. No backing out now. -
"Shoot." He smiled putting his hands in his pockets.

Natalia bit her bottom lip then took a deep breath. "I like you," she said, "a lot. For a while now." She was doing her best to keep herself from rambling.

Adam frowned. "look." He rubbed the back of his neck. "I just met you and all. You seem really cool though. But it's complicated... we could be friends?" Adam frowned.

Natalia quickly nodded her head, staring at the ground, somewhere between his and her shoes. "Yeah," she said quietly.

"I'm sorry." Adam looked away. "Hey, um were in the same class in science. So do you want to do the project together?" Adam looked at Natalia.

"Uhh..." Natalia tried to think things through. Maybe this would be a way to initiate that they were just friends and maybe even start the friendship strong.
Or would he think her some lovesick puppy that kept clinging to him if she accepted? Would it be easier on her emotions if she declined? And plus, she also had the same science class with Connor, and they always did their projects together. Always.
"Maybe next time," she said, making her decision. -
Adam smiled. "That's cool! I should go now" Adam walked up to Natalia and whispered in her ear, "I think the girl who was asking for Connor likes him" He walked off waving to Natalia

She raised her hand in a wave back. She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She decided to go find Connor.

Connor made his way back to Natalia, seeing Adam walking off. ``Jesus, I swear,`` he muttered, ``that girl will never shut up. Always yapping about sh-t.``

"Adam says he thinks she likes you," she said.

``F--k. I do not need to deal with some prissy girl crushing on me,`` he said, rolling his eyes. ``All most of the girls at this school think about are boys and makeup and fashion.``
