Soulmates. They can be real, if you really believe in it. But in this case, they really are. When you turn 13, a mark appears on your body where you and your soulmate first make contact. When you two do, your mark changes colors. Many people get their mark on their palm, just waiting for that one handshake with the right person.
But not C1. C1 has a mark on their back. Interesting, isn't?
It could mean anything. A slap or pat on the back, a hug. Endless possibilities.
One day, C1 was walking home from school, standing at the road waiting to cross. Cars were basically flying past. They finally started walk, just to have another car speed down the road.
They tripped up, dropping their phone to the ground. As C1 picked it up and stood, they spotted the car, fear overcoming them. It was as if they were frozen with fear, until they felt a hand on their back and they were pushed over to the opposite sidewalk.
They looked over to see a knocked out person, C2, lying on the road as the person driving the car backed up, driving away.

Oli stood up and turned around, seeing a boy knocked out on the road. ``Sh-t,`` she muttered, rushing over to him. She knelt down and turned him onto his back, grabbing his wrist and checking his pulse. ``Oh, thank god he's still alive.`` -
The next thing J remembered after all the pain and darkness was the cold, dry air of the hospital. He opened his brown eyes and saw white all around him. White walls, ceilings, floors, machines, blankets, everything. It bothered him; why couldn’t something be black?

Oli tapped her foot against the ground as she sat in a chair near the hospital bed. She looked up, seeing the boy was awake. ``Oh thank god,`` she said, exhaling.
